Community Update:
Halsted Street Firearms Usage

Dear Neighbors,

I'm writing to provide an update on a recent criminal act that occurred in the early morning of Saturday, October 10th.  As you may know, at approximately  2:00 am that morning, an altercation broke out on the 2600 block of North Halsted Street that resulted in the discharge of several shots from a firearm.

As upsetting as this incident was, we're thankful no injuries were reported as a result of this act. The Chicago Police Department arrived in time to make an arrest on the scene. The suspect, Jennifer Spegall, 32 of suburban Broadview, IL, was charged with reckless conduct. My office is pressing the State's Attorney's office to see whether there is enough evidence to add stronger charges to the case and we remain in close contact with the Chicago Police Department.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in court at the Belmont / Western courthouse at  9:00 amon  Monday, November 12th. We have an active Court Advocacy program to send the message that crime will not be tolerated in our community.  Please contact us to join me and come to court that day. Together we are part of the solution to keeping our streets safe.

Thank you for your concern and cooperation. If you have any information or questions about this incident do not hesitate to contact my office at 773-348-9500 or [email protected].

Sincerely,

Michele Signature
