Christmas Day Pick Up

There will be no trash, Curbside Composting, or recycling collection on Thursday, December 25, 2025, Christmas Day.

Residents who normally receive Thursday trash, Curbside Composting, or recycling collection may place their material at the curb Thursday evening, for collection beginning Friday, December 26.

NOTE: Residents may experience collection delays after the holiday as they work to collect the backlog of material.

Parks Committee

Community Board 17 held its Annual Holiday Party on December 19th, and our community truly showed up and showed out.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the organizations and elected officials that supported this event, including East Flatbush Village, Sesame Flyers, Con Edison, The Yard, Assemblymember Monique Chandler-Waterman, all of the board members who generously donated toys for distribution, and everyone else who played a vital role in making this event a success.

Special thanks to Council Member Farah Louis for donating the holiday tree and toys.

We also thank God Squad for providing refreshments, and a special thank you to Josue Pierre for donating burgers from his new business, Roger’s Burgers.

Our Parks and Beautification Committee did an outstanding job organizing and beautifully decorating the space. We are also grateful to PS 198 for allowing us to use their facility.

The event featured something for everyone, including magicians, Santa Claus, gifts for all age groups, gift bags for adults filled with blankets, pillows, sheets, and more, as well as delicious food. It was truly a festive and memorable celebration for the entire community.

Gateway Park Area Substation

Community Board 17 was invited to have a walkthrough at the Projected Gateway Park Area Substation. Gateway will add resiliency to the network and

additional transmission capacity. The substation will be located on 789 East 91st St, Brooklyn.

Planning Study Kickoff Event

Councilmember Farah Louis and Councilmember Rita Joseph held a Planning Study Kickoff Event for our community at PS 181. Residents had the opportunity to learn more about the rezoning process and share their input face-to-face with DCP, highlighting what they want to preserve in the neighborhood and what they’d like to see changed.
