CHAIRPERSON'S LETTER

Dear Community Members, Partners, and Collaborators,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our Community Board 17 newsletter, Constant Contact, and social media platforms. Community Board 17 remains steadfast in our mission to “Move the Community Forward.”

We represent over 185,000 constituents, comprised mostly of low-income and middle-class individuals striving to create better lives for themselves and their families. At Community Board 17, we are dedicated to making their lives easier and as fulfilling as possible. Together with our committees and staff, we work diligently to address your concerns. While we cannot promise to fix everything, we are committed to doing our best to provide answers and solutions.

We invite all community members, partners, and collaborators to participate in our meetings. Our committees, led by competent and hardworking chairs, are tirelessly working to “move the community forward.” We strongly encourage you to reach out to our board office and get involved. You can also connect with us through our website, which is listed below.

Our General Board and Public Hearings are held every third Wednesday of the month. Currently, these meetings take place in the auditorium at SUNY Downstate, and we welcome a packed house. With seating for 500 or more, there is plenty of room for everyone. Additionally, most committee meetings are held virtually, allowing you to join from the comfort of your home, office, or wherever you may be.

I look forward to seeing you and sincerely thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your chair. I will continue to work tirelessly for you because this community means so much to me. Having been involved since 1982, this community is truly in my heart and soul. Let us love it together and work hard to keep it strong.

Sincerely,

Rodrick F. Daley

Chairman, Community Board 17
