Medway Public Schools seeks a Substance Use Prevention ('SUP) Consultant. This position will build capacity for the SUP Medway youth drug prevention coalition, oversee an evening youth drop-in program, and support an afterschool youth empowerment group in collaboration with coalition members and partners. This coordinator position will represent the 'SUP Medway Coalition at community events and coalition-sponsored activities and will facilitate coalition communication via email, social media, and outreach. At times, meeting facilitation and preparation will be required. This position may also support implementing other prevention initiatives to meet community needs and fulfill strategic plans. Have Questions About the Proposed Public Safety/Town Hall Municipal Complex? We invite you to participate to learn more about the proposed project and/or get your questions answered! Michael Boynton, Town Manager; Tim Harris, Chair of the Facilities Assessment Committee; Chief William Kingsbury; and Chief Jeffrey Lynch, and Superintendent Pires will be part of a panel that will give a presentation and answer questions. You can join us in person at Town Hall (Sanford Hall), 155 Village Street, or participate virtually via Zoom (link will be released as we get closer).

The Medway Fire Department will be open to the public for tours on Tuesday, October 22, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Sunday, November 3, from 9:00 am to noon.

As you may know, the Town has conducted a feasibility study to assess the conditions, constraints, and challenges of our current Police, Fire, and Town Hall facilities. The study recommended the creation of a new Municipal Complex, consisting of a new Public Safety (Police & Fire) facility and a separate Town Hall, to be located on the former Medway Block property at 120 Main Street.

We hope you can stop by and see the facilities for yourself. All are welcome!

The Medway Fire Department will hold its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Saturday, October 26, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Join us to learn about fire safety, watch the yearly pumpkin drop (noon), and have some pizza!

The Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC) is hosting a Community Blood Drive at the Thayer Homestead on Monday, October 28, from 1:00 - 7:00 pm. The RIBC has been collecting blood in Massachusetts for many years, and most of our collected blood ends up in Southern New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island). Additionally, our lab in Providence does most of the hematology testing for all of the Massachusetts hospitals, including those in Boston. One pint of blood can save up to 3 lives, so just 20 donors at your drive will save up to 60, and then we repeat 4-6 times per year to reach 240 to 360.
