New Member Profile
Scott Wilder

Please tell us your name and where you are from:
Scott Wilder, born in Texas, raised in Oklahoma. Moved to Bainbridge in 2013 with several stops in between.

Briefly tell us about your professional history:
I'm currently on my 3rd career working in enforcement for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Prior to that I spent a decade or so in mortgage banking, and before that worked in the motion picture business producing documentary and feature films.

What would you like to include about your family?
If you haven't met my wife, Evelyn, you should introduce yourself at a meeting. She is also a new rotarian and brings much more to the party than I do. She's amazing. We are fortunate to have made an incredible person who is currently in their second year of linguistics studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

What are your committee interests?
I'm very interested in international service opportunities and would love to travel to support our work. I also like working on local servce projects.

Please let us know about your favorite pastimes or quotes:
I like to do things outdoors; biking, hiking, boating, fishing, etc. And one of my favorite quotes/sayings is "You only start at the top when you're digging a hole."

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Looking forward to making friends with you all!

What is happening to all our plastic?

Next time you touch anything with plastic, ask yourself what is ultimately happening to all this material.

Recent estimates are that only between 5-9% of our plastic actually gets recycled into consumer goods that can be reused (such as playground equipment or decking).

The vast majority of plastic ends up in landfills and in our oceans.

Ukraine Relief Project

Our club’s WCS Ukraine Subcommittee continues to raise funds to support the Ukrainian people.

Our Partnership
We partner with a dozen Rotary Clubs in western WA and BC who have sent $95,000 to the Rotary Club of Zamość Ordynacki, Poland.

The Rotary Club of Twin Cities, WA, wires money to the president of the Poland Club, who then purchases food, clothing, sleeping bags and cooking stoves and arranges delivery to the Rotary Club of Kyiv-Sophia, which distributes them to the neediest areas.

We Need Your Help. Please Go to the Donate Button on Our Website!
We as a community can and should respond. Visit the RCBI website, at the top select Donate > Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island Trust Fund (Link HERE) > pick Ukraine Relief from drop down window.

Together we can make a big difference for Ukrainians in desperate need.

Introducing Rotary Action Groups

Rotary Action Groups are independent, Rotary-affiliated groups made up of people from around the world who are experts in a particular field, such as economic development, peace, addiction prevention, the environment, or water.

Action groups offer their technical expertise and support to help clubs plan and implement projects to increase our impact, one of Rotary's strategic priorities. This support includes helping clubs find partners, funding, and other resources. Action groups can also help clubs and districts prepare grant applications, conduct community assessments, and develop plans to monitor and evaluate their projects.

Anyone who wants to share their expertise to make a positive difference can join an action group.

Our first April Speaker will be discussing one such Rotary Action Group.

Activities Committee Presents Bainbridge Brewing Alehouse & Pizza
A blue sky evening
It's a social club that gets stuff done and has fun doing it.
Don't try this unless you are the president and have pretty good balance
The clean plate club, note empty pizza box...
Thanks for hosting us, Chuck!
Don't stop here...scroll all the way to the bottom for quote of the week.
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
