Community Catch - December 2021
The whole FISH team would like to wish you a
Happy New Year!
2021 was a big year for FISH - we reopened our marketplace for indoor shopping, started our No Kid Hungry program to increase food security among families with young children, and began our Participant Advisory Committee to amplify Latinx voices in our efforts to prevent hunger and homelessness. And, at the same time, we served more than 12,000 unduplicated people (which represents 1 in 7 Broomfield residents)! None of this would have been possible without the support of our incredible FISH family! Thank you for helping us serve our neighbors in need and strengthen our community.

Our First A Precious Gift Event

On December 11th, we hosted a gift distribution event for our families to come get their presents from the A Precious Gift program. While we have had our participants register through this program with A Precious Child before, this was our first year managing the gift pick up here at our building and it was a huge success! We had over 80 families come in to pick up gifts and all of our staff and volunteers had a blast helping families load their cars with new bicycles, dollhouses, sports equipment, and all other kinds of wonderful presents!
Volunteer Spotlight:
Rotary Club of Broomfield Crossing

This month we are featuring a group of volunteers - the Broomfield Crossing Rotarians! In 2021, they gave an amazing 400 volunteer hours to FISH. Working in their offsite facility, they repackaged 21,000 pounds of oatmeal, sugar, pinto beans, salt, rice, and detergent, some of which they generously donated. Their efforts allow us to distribute these bulk food and personal care items in our marketplace to as many families as possible. Thank you Rotary Club of Broomfield Crossing for all your hard work to help feed families and fuel hope here in Broomfield!
Spreading Holiday Cheer with Baking and Hot Cocoa Kits!

We have received many generous donations of holiday kits this year and have absolutely loved seeing how festive and creative everyone was in making them. Thank you for helping us provide these special treats for the families shopping in our marketplace!
