Community Catch - May 2021
We are excited to announce that FISH will be open to the public, by appointment only, starting June 4th, 2021! Broomfield FISH participants can make a 20-minute appointment to come inside to shop for food twice a month on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays between 12 pm and 4:30 pm. For those who do not want to shop inside, or who need additional food, we will continue the drive-thru distribution on Wednesdays from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors is returning this June!

We are kicking off our second annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign on June 1st! Throughout the month, our team champions will be sharing Broomfield FISH’s mission with the community and raising funds on our behalf to prevent hunger and homelessness among Broomfield residents. We are so grateful to have an amazing group of neighbors advocating for FISH. Some of our champions from last year said that this campaign was a great opportunity to share more information about FISH with community members who were unfamiliar with who we are and what we do. To support your team champions with a donation, click here. If you prefer to donate by check, you can mail it to Broomfield FISH at 6 Garden Center and write your team champion's name in the memo.
Congratulations 2021 YAB Graduates!

It has been a unique and difficult senior year! However, our Youth Advisory Board seniors have made the best of it, and we are so proud of their accomplishments! Congratulations to Lucia Fang, Nicole Fatovic, Kya Irish, Willa Koster, Kate Lampo, Will Martin, Ella Powell, Brad Quinn, Daniel Riggin, Blake Shapiro, Riley Smith, and McKenna Spinuzzi! Thank you for your time, dedication, and service to FISH! We wish you all the best and know that the world's future is brighter because of you!
Mental Health Awareness Month!

Mental health is essential to overall wellbeing. However, it can often be difficult to talk about it. As Jason Vahling, Public Health Director, explains, "When someone breaks their leg, we don’t expect them to 'just snap out of it' or think they somehow brought it on themselves. Like physical health conditions, mental health conditions need treatment and the people who confront them need our support." To learn about local resources, contact Community Reach Center here or call (303) 853-3500 or contact Mental Health Partners here or call (303) 443-8500. Broomfield has also launched a "Let's Talk About" campaign. Learn more here.
Volunteer Spotlight: Megan Foley

Megan started volunteering in high school and returned as a college student during COVID. She is smart, hardworking, and always knows what needs to get done by the end of her shift. She and fellow volunteer, Taylor Trumm, saw the need for diapers at FISH this spring and organized a diaper drive. Megan brings a surplus of positive energy to the FISH team and is a delight to know. We wish her well as she starts nursing school in the summer.
Thank you Trinity Team & Keller Williams Preferred Realty!

We want to thank the Trinity Team and Keller Williams Preferred Realty for their support during RED Day, their annual day of giving back to the community and helping our neighbors in need. This year they collected 3,260 pounds of food donations and raised $2,945 for FISH!
Welcome Baseline Neighbors!

Representatives from the Baseline development--McWhinney, DMB Community Life, and Taloma Partners--came to visit FISH this month! Together, we discussed the importance of partnerships in strengthening community wellness. By creating affordable housing options and designing their developments to be open and welcoming to all, their plans embody what it means to call Broomfield home. We look forward to feeding families and fueling hope together in the future!
