"I'm so happy," local resident Ms. Cruz said. "This building is beautiful. Now there are more opportunities for the kids."
The Children's Village has been operating the Community Center at the Polo Grounds in Harlem for more than a year. On March 2, NYCHA officially opened the center's new 23,000 square foot facility that features a performance stage, video room, computer center, program, and a full-sized gym. The center is part of the Department of Youth and Community Development's Cornerstone Initiative.
"I want to thank the children and families of the Polo Grounds for allowing us to be a part of your lives," said Jeremy Kohomban, President and CEO of The Children's Village. "I am inspired by your commitment to building a strong community for your families."
