UPDATE ON THE COMMUNITY CENTER POOLS
Main Pool Closed Until Further Notice – Estimated Reopening early to mid-January.
The Therapy Pool will remain open whenever feasible during this period. Please check for updates at www.mansfieldcc.com or 860-429-3015, #4 before visiting to use the pools.
Over the past 10 days, the main pool water was emptied, hydro-jetting of relevant pipes, and intensive cleaning and disinfecting of the pool basin, gutters, and main pool filter were completed. During this process, several necessary repairs were identified, and we are awaiting the results of additional lab tests of samples of the black patches in the pool after the water was emptied and more samples could be more effectively obtained. Staff is discussing options for any repairs learned over the past few days. The primary repairs include improvements to the pool basin and a heat exchanger, which is essential for effectively reheating and maintaining the pool water temperature. Although we are disappointed in the current status of the pool and acknowledge that many patrons share the same frustrations, before reopening, it is imperative that we exercise all the precautions needed to ensure the public’s safe return to use of the main pool. A final course of action and timeline is anticipated soon, and we will provide you with additional details at that time.
Please know that we are thankful for the numerous words of support and patience from members and guests during this challenging time. We have also received a few inquiries about the possibility of credits due to the temporary closure of the pool and we are giving this serious consideration. We will make a determination once there is a definitive length of time regarding the temporary closure of the main pool. In the meantime, we encourage folks to consider use, or increased use, of the over $175,000 of new fitness equipment, indoor track, therapy pool, gymnasium, and fitness classes to help support your fitness needs. As a reminder, fitness staff are always on hand for complimentary guidance on the use of fitness equipment and providing suggestions for alternative weekly fitness routines.
