Mayor Olivarri Awards Mark Wasson
During the regular Board of Aldermen meeting on Thursday,
July 16th, Mayor Olivarri recognized and commended citizen Mark Wasson with a Mayoral Commendation.

On June 8, 2020, Mr. Wasson was fishing when he heard a child crying for help. He located a boy holding onto a dock anchor cable, pulled the boy out of the water, and called 911.

Mr. Wasson’s quick response turned a possible life altering incident into a positive outcome for this child and his family.
The health and safety of our community, visitors, and employees is a priority for the City of Osage Beach as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

**City facilities remain open to the public and public meetings have resumed, with restrictions related to social distancing and screening.

**Park facilities remain open and many activities and sports programs continue with restrictions. Unfortunately, the 20th Annual Fall Festival and the Citywide Garage Sale events normally held in September and October have been CANCELLED for 2020.

COVID19 has had a financial impact on city revenues. Although our Lake area communities have been fortunate in respect to the continuation of, and according to many reports an increase in, visitors, city revenues remain on a decline compared to pre-COVID budget and forecasts. An updated operational spending plan for FY2020 was developed in the early months of the pandemic and was recently updated based on recent month’s financial activity. We are estimating a 5.6% decrease for overall FY2020 city revenues, equating to an approximate $1.5 million estimated revenue shortfall. To meet this estimated shortfall, $580,000 in expenditures have been cut from the FY2020 budget; the remainder will be realized out of city cash reserves.

My office is dedicated to being good stewards of our community and we will continue to operate efficiently to deliver superior municipal services to our citizens and visitors.

My favorite thing about working for the City: My fellow coworkers.

One thing about me people may not know: I used to own horses, and I had a beautiful stallion, which is why I always had several. As soon as a mare would foal, and it was able to do the wobbly stand training began. My goal was be able to break my foals so that when it was old enough it could be rode. I accomplished this goal successfully a couple of times.

One thing about me people may not know: I am originally from Pella, IA and moved here over 9 years ago after vacationing here my entire life. My passion for the outdoors lives through my work and my family of 4 and the outdoor opportunities in Missouri certainly persuaded my moving here.
