Welcome to the month of July! With summer in full swing, we are thrilled to bring you the latest updates and initiatives happening in our vibrant city. July is Parks and Recreation month, and we invite you to make the most of the outdoors by exploring any of our 65 parks and nine Community Centers. Click here to read the complete message.

Join us on the 4th of July for a spectatcular fireworkds display at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center! Free entry and parking. Food trucks will be on site too. Click here to read more.

Fire Station 1 Project


Later this summer, construction will begin on Fire Station 1 for a complete renovation and modernization project, thanks to Measure P. Built in 1948, Fire Station 1 is the City's oldest and one of the busiest stations! Click here to read more.

Good to Know: July is Parks and Recreation month! Did you know Chula Vista has 65 beautiful parks for your enjoyment? We also have nine community centers including the Norman Park Senior Center. Learn more.


Our Animal Services Department has a new program called "Train with Me" offering paid training with PetSmart upon adoption of selected dogs. Learn more.


The City and Southwestern College signed an agreement in June to conduct an academic program planning study in support of the City's university efforts. Learn more.

Get your Discover & Go pass with your Chula Vista Public Library card which offers free passes to many locations. Learn more..


Movies in the Moonlight, offered by Parks and Recreation, will feature a free movie in a City park once a month for the next four months. Learn more.


Get Involved: Applications are now being accepted for several City boards and commissions. Chula Vista youth ages 16-22 also have an opportunity to get involved with their city! Learn more.


Neighborhood Beautification: Lauderbach Park will re-open to the public on Wednesday, July 12 after receiving extensive renovations. Learn more.


Park Rangers, in conjunction with Public Works, Alpha Project, and McAlister (Work for Hope) collected 9,780 pounds of trash and 36 shopping carts for this month’s OPERATION PRIDE efforts. Learn more.
