After almost three years, the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration has come to an end. While it has been a difficult time with much uncertainty, I am proud of our City employees who worked tirelessly to keep our community safe, continued delivery of critical services and ensured city projects moved forward. University Project Update


The City is working with Assemblymember David Alvarez (AD80) to seek a legislative exemption from the Surplus Land Act (SLA) to advance the City of Chula Vista University-Innovation District (UID) development. Click here to read more.

Civic Center Library Renovations


Have you seen the beautiful renovations at the Civic Center Library at 365 F Street? Thanks to Measure P, the ten-year half-cent sales tax passed by Chula Vista voters in 2016, the children’s area, the public restrooms in the main lobby and children’s area, the roof, and the parking lot have been transformed. Good to Know: Through April 14, SBCS San Diego is providing free tax filing services for low-income residents in Chula Vista and the South Bay. Call 211 to schedule an appointment or walk-in during open hours. Visit the Chula Vista location at 276 Fourth Ave., Building C, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. To qualify for free tax filing services, residents must earn less than $60,000 gross per year. Learn more.

March is Women’s History Month, Daylight Saving Time begins March 12; St. Patrick’s Day March 17; Spring Equinox March 20; National Puppy Day March 23; National Mom & Pop Business Owners Day March 29; and Cesar Chavez Day March 31.
