Special Thanks toCommunity Knightsfor their support of NetworkPeninsula with a grant to purchase a new computer for the office. We are very grateful for their support of our programs and so many other local nonprofits. In total, they have awarded $734,950 to local school groups and nonprofit organizations!
But they can't do it without the community's help! The money they award is raised via weekly Bingo games held in Newport News and they need volunteers to make those games happen! This is a SMOKE-FREE venue and anyone age 16 and older is welcome to join in this community wide effort to support local nonprofits and schools. To learn more, click here.
FREE Budgeting Workshops -
The Newport News Department of Human Services Housing Broker Team and the Virginia Cooperative Extension offer free budget workshops. The workshops are offered Wednesday mornings and evenings. The next series of workshops takes place August 2, August 9 and August 23. The morning classes run from 10:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. and the evening classes from 6:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.To learn more, click here.
New Eyes for Needy -
New Eyes for the Needy purchases basic prescription glasses for people in financial need in the U.S. through a voucher program. Individuals cannot apply for themselves. The online application is only accessible to social service agencies who apply on their clients behalf. To learn more, click here.
