Celebrate Community Connections
|
|
Over the 2021-22 school year, the Education Foundation of New Berlin (EFNB) gained momentum by establishing an endowment fund, funding its Impact Grant program for the second year, and establishing a scholarship program to support students entering post-secondary studies. The EFNB was able to do all this thanks to the generosity of the New Berlin community and it is celebrating its most successful fundraising results to date with $27,000 in endowed scholarships secured, $12,000 from individual community supports, $5,000 from business/organization supporters and $15,000 of in-kind contributions and services provided at no cost.
The EFNB and School District of New Berlin are excited about the momentum and are announcing some immediate changes to the EFNB board structure.
The EFNB acknowledges Mark Sperka, Marlo McCormick, Kristina Ropella, Ph.D., Dianne Moore, and Brenda Duke for their years of service on its board of directors, each of whom concluded their service to the Board this month. Members Guy Couillard and Chuck Stadler will continue to serve as President and Treasurer, respectively. These seven members together will be honored with membership in the Community Founders Circle.
To better align fundraising activities among the EFNB, the SDNB, and community support organizations such as booster clubs and Parent/Teacher Organizations, the district will appoint Kelli Kwiatkowski, Amanda Mazurkiewicz, and Brady Reinke to serve on the EFNB board. All three are district administrators in the District Office - and Ms. Kwiatkowski and Mr. Reinke are also New Berlin residents - willing to support the philanthropic efforts of the foundation most especially the teachers and students the EFNB is working to support with above and beyond programming and activities.
An additional two community members will be nominated to the board this summer - if you are interested in serving on a committee or board of directors, please contact info@efnb.org.
Julie Cordero will transition her role to Director of Philanthropy to support both the Foundation and District. The district has seen great momentum with naming rights sponsorships over the past school year and is ready to expand these partnerships and begin capital campaign fundraising efforts.

The Foundation’s Payton Alexander Memorial Golf Scholarship Fund was established in 2021 by the Alexander Family, educators, and coaches at New Berlin West High School. This scholarship honors the 2020 alumna from New Berlin West who participated in the girls' varsity golf team. Payton battled cancer for four years; first being diagnosed in 2018. She lost her fight to cancer in November of 2021. She loved golf and cared about her education. Payton always had a positive attitude, worked hard, and volunteered for many non-profit organizations. Payton focused on helping others and knew how to put a smile on someone's face. This scholarship is intended to continue her legacy and bring awareness to childhood cancer.
