Wheelz2Work-Jackie's Story

You can impact a life with your vehicle donation!

Transportation barriers impede financial independence in so many ways. With her new car, Jackie gained the freedom to find the best employment, daycare, and life possible for her and her son. She broke the cycle of generational poverty, which shadows so many families, and is ready to build a future with no limits!

Thank you to St. Charles Borromeo Church!

The students in their CCD classes donated and assembled supplies for Street Outreach needs.

Housing Advocacy Matters!

Read D.S.'s Story...

D.S., a 77-year-old veteran, was referred to us by the Housing Link in early February. He had moved into his current home 11 years ago, after experiencing homelessness, and was always a responsible tenant, maintaining his apartment and never once being late on rent. Unfortunately, in 2024, he twice became the victim of fraud when someone stole his debit card and drained his bank account. This severely affected his financial stability, and because the investigation into the theft remains open, he has not been able to recover any of his stolen funds.

D.S. was matched with BCOC case manager Sharon, who was instrumental in supporting him during this difficult time. She worked with him to discuss other housing options, including potential senior housing, and information about PECO’s CAP program. In addition, she provided resources for food and cell phone services to help supplement his budget. Ultimately, Sharon was able to work with his landlord to pause the eviction process, given his strong payment history and good standing as a tenant. Thanks to this assistance, D.S received financial support to cover the full amount of his rental arrears, ensuring that he could remain in his home.

A message from our CEO, Erin Lukoss

At the Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC), our mission is to reduce poverty and partner with the community to promote economic self-sufficiency. We remain steadfast in our commitment to serving the community by connecting people with resources to thrive. Through our five core program areas—Housing, Food, Tax Preparation, Weatherization, and Economic Mobility — we provide vital services that help families achieve stability and independence.

However, we are facing the potential loss or pause of critical federal funding that supports many of these essential programs. Federal funding is a cornerstone of our ability to deliver life-changing services, and if these funds are reduced or eliminated, BCOC will be forced to scale back programming, directly impacting thousands of individuals and families who rely on us for support.

We want to reassure the community that BCOC remains financially stable and committed to continuing our work. While we are in good shape today, we are deeply concerned about the potential long-term effects of funding reductions. To safeguard our programs, we are actively engaging with elected officials to advocate for the preservation of these critical resources.

In times like these, community support is more important than ever. If you believe in our mission and want to help ensure that BCOC can continue serving those in need, we encourage you to consider making a donation or supporting our advocacy efforts. Every contribution makes a difference in keeping vital services available for our neighbors.

We are grateful for the trust and support of the Bucks County community. Together, we can navigate these challenges and continue our shared mission of reducing poverty and promoting economic self-sufficiency for all.

Thank you for standing with us.
