Please read this message from one of our recent ES grads:
"During my time with BCOC, I experienced living in a crowded home; being in a toxic relationship; working two to three jobs; and attending college.
In March of 2022, I suffered from significant injuries due to a car accident leading to me dropping out of college. I had to learn how to care for myself again, give myself patience; and rely on others. Even though I was suffering I did not allow myself to give up.
This course taught me that I am not alone and what matters most is that you showed up. I have my own apartment, 2 pets, a new vehicle, self-love, and self-worth. I have built strong friendships, support systems, stability and much more. I can see a future for myself with endless possibilities and opportunities that I never could imagine. To the graduates, we did it! I'm so proud of everyone because I know this was not an easy obstacle to tackle. Keep fighting for yourself.
To the current participants, you are not alone and the change from out of poverty will be difficult. We are stuck in this generational curse, a repeating cycle passed down from our family. The change will feel uncomfortable but be open minded and allow yourself to have setbacks. Believe in yourself and go for what you want. What is the worst someone can say to you? No? So, then what are you going to do about it? Will you quit or will you get back up and keep trying? BCOC is here to support you."
