Victoria first reached out to BCOC for emergency services while struggling with unstable housing. She was working as a waitress and not making ends meet. A former ES graduate and friend encouraged her to join the program, setting her on a new path.
Two years ago, Victoria started an electrical apprenticeship with the Union, working toward a journeyman’s license. Despite facing layoffs, low wages, and a car accident that temporarily set her back, she remained determined, seeking new opportunities. Along the way, she received some support from BCOC for transportation, rent, utilities, and gas. With each new job, she increased her income, climbing her way out of poverty.
Today, Victoria has secured her dream job as a SPO Technician at Merck, earning a strong salary with a pension, annuity, retirement benefits, and health insurance. Her perseverance has transformed her life, providing stability and security for herself and her children.
