A Success Story You Helped Us Write...

Meet Ray -

Ray entered a specialized housing program in December 2024 with a lot stacked against him. He had no identification documents, income, or a place to live. Ray didn't even have any clothes besides the ones he was wearing.

This past year he was set up with temporary shelter through BCOC and began to thrive! He got his ID documents, connected with the community, and acquired an income. Ray has earned three certificates through CareerLink, is an active member of the Bucks County Reentry Coalition and just moved into his own apartment. When he got his apartment, Ray said "The hotel, that was about surviving but this, this is about living!"

He is forever grateful for BCOC and attributes a lot of his success to our program.

In Other News...

BCOC joined the Community Support Program of Bucks County for their resource fair and picnic. So many people stopped by the table to share stories about how BCOC has helped them!

Here's an update on the car that the Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund donated to Bucks County Opportunity Council. The car has found a home with Faith, one of our Economic Self-Sufficiency (ES) clients, who has met all of the benchmarks BCOC has for receiving a car.

A lack of transportation is a substantial barrier for people struggling financially, especially in Bucks County where public transit has very limited options. Ownership of a personal vehicle can open their world for better employment, education, and family security.

Faith, a single mother of three who works full-time while going to school, was thrilled to receive this car! Having a reliable car that she feels comfortable driving her children around in will have a positive impact on their future1!

BCOC successfully delivered the Mini Poverty Simulation to NOVA's staff. Penelope Ettinger, the Executive Director at NOVA, said they really learned a lot from the experience!

Don't miss a "Wickedly" good time!
