COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
What an incredible start we have had to our school year! Thank you parents, students, and staff for beginning our year with a focus on health and safety while continuing to provide opportunities and experiences. This year's theme is “The Falcon Way". We are rising out of a couple of challenging years into the excitement of the future for our school district. Our hope is that this theme leads us into conversations about our core beliefs as a district, what makes us special, what we make sure we keep about that feeling as we continue to expand and grow, and where we go next. DC West is a special place. We love our big school opportunities with our small school feel! We’re going to take time to celebrate, The Falcon Way!

In gratitude,
Melissa

ESSER III Funds Survey Feedback
Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief III (ESSER III) funds are being provided to DC West from the federal government under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021. The purpose of ESSER III is to address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on students by combating learning losses, supporting social-emotional needs and ensuring a safe return to the school environment for students.

DCWest Community Schools has submitted application for ESSER III funds to the Nebraska Department of Education. Your stakeholder input was used to write this application. Thank you for your input as this additional money will support our staff and students immensely. See the results of your input below:

Our Family Facilitator at DC West Elementary, Sue Guerrero, has been on medical leave with cancerous brain tumors. Sue has supported our mobile foot pantry at DC West and I know many people have asked how they can provide support for Sue and her family as she battles for her health. She has sent me this link (posthope.org/sueg) for her website to keep you informed of where she is in her journey and how you can help Sue and her family.
