ECTC announces 2024 Distinguished Alumni and Lifetime Achievement honorees


ECTC will recognize eight alumni and two retired employees for their exemplary work at the annual Profiles of Excellence celebration. 


The Distinguished Alumni program has now recognized the academic, professional and humanitarian endeavors of 154 former students.

ECTC named a 2024 Best Place to Work in Kentucky


ECTC has made the 2024 list of Best Places to Work in Kentucky, announced by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (KYSHRM). ECTC participates biennially and has earned the designation three consecutive times — 2020, 2022 and 2024. 


“At ECTC, we are committed to maintaining a caring culture where employees feel engaged and valued, and we are very excited to make the Best Places to Work list again,” said Chief Human Resources Officer Whitney Taylor. “The designation is a tribute to every member of the ECTC team and their commitment to working together to serve our students and our community.”

Custom training provides pathway to new careers in human resources


ECTC Workforce Solutions, in partnership with the Lincoln Trail Workforce Development Board, Kentucky Career Center – Lincoln Trail and professional services company YRCI, recently celebrated eight students beginning new careers in human resources. 


The students completed a 75-hour training program through ECTC to prepare for full-time remote positions with YRCI, supporting the company’s Federal Human Resources Remote Operations Center. All students will begin their employment by March 25 and continue on-the-job training.

ECTC announces Gowns for Grads initiative


ECTC recently announced the creation of Gowns for Grads, a lending program for students who don’t have extra funds for graduation caps and gowns. 



“The graduation ceremony is such an important event in a student’s life, and some won’t attend because they don’t have the ability to purchase new caps and gowns,” said ECTC Director of Admissions and Assessment Judy Akers. “We want to help with that.”

ECTC advanced manufacturing students as well as visiting high school students had an opportunity to make one-on-one connections with more than a dozen employers during Advanced Manufacturing Career Days at the college.

METALLICA SCHOLARS SPOTLIGHTS

The blessings keep coming


ECTC Industrial Maintenance student and Metallica Scholar Christian Liner overcame a lot to get to where he is today.


“I did things when I was young and immature that I regret today,” he said. “But I turned it around and now I help people get their lives together. I sponsor people who are going through sobriety or just getting out of jail. That work, and seeing what I’ve accomplished so far, has helped me stay on track.”

Metallica Scholars award inspires student to achieve more


Jeffrey Stewart has only lived in the United States since November 2022. Originally from Jamaica, the ECTC Engineering and Electronics Technology (EET) student and Metallica Scholar has had to adapt to a new culture and learning environment and make a whole new set of friends.



“I moved to an area that I knew nothing about, and I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb,” he said. “But I’ve met and interacted with so many different people and learned how different and yet how similar we all are. It’s given me a better understanding of people.”
