COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Today, we have officially completed 31 days or approximately six weeks of school. Implementing our Return to Learning Plan has been a successful partnership between home and school. Thank you to all of you who have collaborated with us whether it be through eLearning, quarantines, protocols, procedures, etc. Times are different, yet we are finding a way to provide a safe and healthy education to students each day. That is an accomplishment that we all share!

Thank you!

DC West Facilities Task Force
The DC West Community School District asked for volunteers to create a Facilities Task Force to accomplish the following goals:

•      Identify future goals of what we want for our communities with regard to our facilities
•      Clarifying facility needs with possible solutions
•      Create a survey that may possibly be used with the district general population
•      Estimate the cost of solutions and establish a price point for a possible bond issue
•      Make a recommendation for a timeline

We had 31 individuals that volunteered for the Task Force which has met two times. The representatives are community members, staff, administration, board members, and parents. As a part of the meetings, the group identified values to focus their work, those values are pictured above. The Task Force's future goals, needs, solutions, and recommendations will be discussed in an upcoming School Board work session.

We will continue to update you regarding the recommendations and work of this group in the months ahead.

Return to Learning and COVID-19 at DC West

We continue to be vigilant in our efforts surrounding our protocols for the health and safety of our students. In order to provide our community an idea of what is happening inside our schools with positive cases and quarantines, we will provide monthly data from our records in the Community Connections. This data includes students attending in person as well as remotely. A couple of definitions for this data are; a COVID positive staff or student is one who received a positive result on a COVID test, a quarantine is an individual who is positive with COVID or one who had a close contact exposure to a person with a positive result on a COVID test.
