ECTC unveils Robbins University Center


A dream that was years in the making came true as ECTC officials and supporters gathered to cut a ribbon on the Robbins University Center.

Employer partner supports unique training for ECTC diesel students 


Diesel Technology students at ECTC had a unique training opportunity this fall thanks to McCoy Construction & Forestry in Louisville. 


McCoy Construction & Forestry delivered a John Deere 650K dozer to one of program’s diesel labs and students, under the instruction of Associate Professor Joe Valora, replaced the undercarriage, including chains, track pads, idler and rollers.

AMAP hosts Internship Interview Day


ECTC and the AMAP team hosted Internship Interview Day on Sept. 20. This event was one of many programs that the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerator Project team has partnered with ECTC to create a pipeline of talent to industry partners in the surrounding area.

ECTC receives Plant for the Planet grant from LG&E and KU


ECTC recently received a Plant for the Planet grant from LG&E and KU to purchase trees planted on ECTC’s campus. 


Based on the United Nations Environment Program’s Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign, the purpose of the grant is to encourage organizations with a record of successful tree planting to continue their efforts. ECTC used the grant to purchase and plant native trees on campus, including oak, redbud, dogwood and maple trees.

Allied Health students participate in trauma presentation


ECTC allied health students recently participated in a trauma presentation by Air Methods. It was great to hear about the flight team's roles and see how all the allied health disciplines will work together for the benefit of the patients. Programs participating included nursing, respiratory care, radiography and diagnostic medical sonography.

Joy Bale Boone Poetry Prize now accepting submissions


The Joy Bale Boone Poetry Prize, with a $500 gift card grand prize, is open until Nov. 8. The contest honors Joy Bale Boone, a poet best known for her devotion to the arts. Born in Chicago, where she received inspiration from poet Harriet Monroe, Boone spent most of her life in Elizabethtown.

ECTC Collier Library celebrates two anniversaries


2024 is a special year for the ECTC Collier Library, which celebrates not one, but two anniversaries. It is both 60 and 40 years old in September 2024. The Collier Library celebrates with a history display that includes old scrapbooks and yearbooks laid out for viewing. The display will stay up until October 11. 2024.

ECTC hosts documentary viewing and discussion 


ECTC recently hosted a screening of the film Invented Before You Were Born, a documentary about white siblings Jonathan and Rachel Knight who discovered they are descendants of Kentucky slave holder Richard Bibb. A lunch discussion followed the screening and included Michael Morrow, historian and director of the SEEK museum featured in the film. The event was sponsored by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation through the Marvin and Joyce Benjamin Fund.  

ECTC Cultural Tour: Spain and Morocco


Over the summer, ECTC students, faculty and staff traveled together to two countries on two continents, visiting historic sites in both Spain and Morocco. 


In Spain, the group visited the cities of Madrid, Granada and Tarifa, seeing multiple UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Alhambra, one of the most famous monuments of Islamic architecture and one of the best-preserved palaces of the historic Islamic world.

Should you serve first in a pickleball match?


Miky Wright, a distinguished faculty member in the math department at ECTC, and William Figary, an engineer from Elizabethtown, have achieved national recognition with the publication of their article by the renowned Mathematical Association of America (MAA).



Titled "Should You Choose to Serve First in a Pickleball Match? — MATH VALUES," the article delves into the statistical factors that influence pickleball matches, offering valuable insights for both players and enthusiasts of the sport.
