Community Donors Help SCCF Meet $500,000 Matching Grant
SCCF successfully completed Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) matching grant challenge. Thanks to generous donors who made gifts to SCCF’s unrestricted fund for grantmaking and responding to community needs, SCCF has received the full $500,000 matching grant from Lilly Endowment. Completing this matching grant challenge means SCCF can continue to support nonprofits who provide crucial services to local residents and enhance quality of life, while also having the flexibility to respond to community needs that arise in the future. SCCF will now be moving on to the next phase of Lilly Endowment’s GIFT VII initiative. This will include a feasibility study to ensure future growth and success of SCCF’s supporting organization, Steuben County Fiber Network, as well as a number of local community conversations.

The Humanities Fund
Since 2001, the Humanities Fund has supported programs to boost local talent and bring the arts and humanities to our community. They host an annual bike ride ( BIKE 101 LAKES) to raise money for scholarships for students to learn about arts and music. Each year they also support the Messiah Concert, a festive and inspiring Christmas performance. Click to learn more about the Humanities Fund council. If you're interested in joining, please contact the Steuben County Community Foundation.

Each day looks more like spring, so we wanted to share a grant story that gives us hope for warmer days spent outside. In the past three years, ACRES has received multiple grants from SCCF to fund the preservation of the history of Wing Haven, a local land preserve, and incorporate arts and science into the visitor experience.

Read about their grant projects and more local nonprofit stories here, including a recent spotlight on Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County.
Grant Search for Local Nonprofits

SCCF wanted to make it easier for local nonprofits to bring grant dollars into Steuben County. We purchased a 2-year subscription to Foundation Directory Online. This powerful, nation-wide database can be accessed at the SCCF office during business hours by local nonprofits to find other funders and view nonprofits and grants related to their missions.
We're hosting a demo of the directory on April 9th from 2:30-3:00pm, just before our nonprofit training.
