City Commission allocates $50,000 for 2020 Community Enhancement Program

Williston Economic Development - The Williston STAR Fund board of directors and the Williston City Commission have approved up to $50,000 for 2020 Community Enhancement (CE) grant applications. The total CE funding allocated may be less than $50,000. The CE grant program helps nonprofit groups and organizations fund activities and projects that improve the quality of life in the Williston area. Read More
XWA conducts Full-scale Emergency Operations Exercise; Prepares for Oct. 10 Grand Opening

News Release - On Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 a full-scale emergency operations exercise was conducted at the new Williston Basin International Airport (XWA), due to open on Oct. 10, 2019. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires an airport to hold a full-scale exercise every three years. Nine emergency response agencies, two medical response organizations, 50 volunteers, and several airport employees, local, and federal organizations participated in the exercise. Read More

Watford City to receive City of the Year Honor Sept. 21
McKenzie County Farmer - On Saturday, Sept. 21, Watford City will be honored with the City of the Year award by the North Dakota League of Cities. Phil Riely, Watford City mayor, will be receiving the award on behalf of the city during the League of Cities annual conference in Bismarck, N.D. US Shale Oil Output hits Record Levels
Aljazeerza - United States oil output from seven major shale formations is expected to rise by 74,000 barrels per day (bpd) in October to a record high of 8.843 million bpd, the US Energy Information Administration said in its monthly drilling productivity report on Monday.  Output in the Bakken Formation is expected to edge higher by about 2,000 bpd to a record 1.471 million bpd, the data showed.  Read More
