Welcome October!

It is fully FALL in HSBay! You can kick it off THIS week with the Fall Festival hosted by your POA at Quail Point, Thursday, Oct 2nd at 4-8 pm. Begin with a taste of the season of Chili Cookoff samples, followed by indoor Consumer Showcase of local vendor booths, all the way ‘out back’ to relax by the lake with live music and social. (See details below).

Then mark your calendar for fun throughout the month (Go to POA website for October calendar of events (exercise, yoga/meditation, mah jongg lessons, social games, bingo night on the second Thursdays at 6 pm, shared events). If you have an idea for group activity you would enjoy, share with your POA staff. (Example: Free Ballroom Dancing with Taylor will begin 2x a month soon). We are looking for a local Tai Chi instructor to add to the exercise options (any contacts?). Get involved with your community!

Be sure to MARK your Calendars for other community-wide events as well.

* October 16th is a night of Stargazing at the Nature Park (off Golden Nugget in HSBay West) at 7 pm. Bring your chair/drinks, and maybe even a donation to this special tranquil setting.

*October 25 is your City of HSBay 20th anniversary celebration (4pm) at the new City Center (across from Escondido on Hwy 2147). Get an up close look and hear from all four mayors for a short review of our city history…and a celebration of the plans moving forward. Here is a video of Representative Wes Virdell recognizing the City of Horseshoe Bay…as well as details about other key notices for your POA/city). Your POA hosted the City Annual Town Hall last week to a full crowd of new/established citizens.

*October 29 – Horseshoe Bay Business Alliance Community Coffee at Arrowhead Bank at 9 AM; Get close-up conversations with your area service providers (Your POA hosted the September monthly meeting and enjoyed the ‘elevator’ talk moments of some of your local vendors.

*October 31st POA annual TRUNK or TREAT (5 pm). Decorate your trunk or golf cart and fill with candy/goodies to share for area children (or the child in you!). Lots of strolling the parking lot and socializing (feel free to dress for the Halloween fun!)

Board News

Your POA Board adopted its annual budget at the September meeting (always open on the third Wednesday mornings at 9 am). The new fiscal year begins October 1 with a balanced budget and capital projects identified (see hsbpoa.org/board business/2025-26 annual budget).

Minutes from all meetings are posted to keep you informed. Note: Be on the lookout for new ACC code enforcement guidance as we work together to keep standards high.

Check out the POA website calendar for access to all information about your POA actions.

We hope you're taking morning or evening walks in our POA community, enjoying the cooling temperatures, and greeting your neighbors with a ‘hello’. Please notify the POA staff if you observe any concerns/needs throughout the community. We will end the month with the final days of Daylight Saving Time (Nov 2 ‘fall forward’ an hour), so prepare for earlier sunsets.

Get ready, Horseshoe Bay—the Fall Fest is almost here, and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever! Join us on Thursday, October 2, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Quail Point Lodge for an evening filled with chili, music, shopping, and community spirit. The Fall Fest combines our annual Chili Cook-Off with the Consumer Showcase, creating one dynamic event that offers something for everyone. Inside Quail Point, the marketplace will be bustling with vendors, including Door Pro Plus, Outback Patio, Three Kisses Shop, The Rug Queen, Silver Branch Creations, Lady Lavender, and many more. It is the perfect opportunity to browse local goods, meet business owners, and support community talent.

Outdoors, the Chili Cook-Off kicks off at 4:00 PM, featuring cookers including the HSB Police Department, Cadence Bank, Star Republican Women, Two Hot Messes, Sabor DeLeon, and CD Electric. Sample the chili while supplies last and help cheer on the competitors—who will claim the title of chili champ this year? At 5:00 PM, the Ricky Adams Band will take the pavilion stage, filling the evening with great country music and plenty of opportunities to dance. Beverages will be on sale, including wine from Cuvee Wine Bar and craft beer from Balcones Supply Co., both located in Marble Falls. Savory snacks will be available at the chuck wagon for those who are chili-averse. With food, fun, shopping, and music, there is no better way to welcome the fall season than at the Horseshoe Bay POA’s Fall Fest. We look forward to seeing you there!

🍬 We are asking for donations of single-serve pre-packaged candy or small mini prizes that kids will love. 🧡 Even if you cannot attend Trunk or Treat, you can still join the fun by dropping off your donations at the POA office.

The Horseshoe Bay POA runs on the heart and hands of volunteers who step forward to make our community stronger, friendlier, and more connected. Right now, we are inviting more members to “Just Say Yes” to volunteering. Whether you enjoy helping decorate for events, running bingo, making phone calls, creating social media posts, assisting with sales and promotions, securing raffle items, DJing or MCing, or even keeping watch over our campground and trails. No matter your interests or skills, there is a place for you to contribute. Getting started is simple; just reply to this email and let us know you’re interested in volunteering. We’ll find the perfect place for you to help.

Mary Daniel has been that person who always says yes, and her impact is seen everywhere you look. She has spent countless hours decorating for POA events, bringing her creativity, talent, and a warm spirit to every celebration. Mary once laughed while telling the group that she just can’t say no when asked to help, which perfectly inspired our theme of turning “Just Say No” into “Just Say Yes.” Her knack for design, paired with her eagerness to roll up her sleeves, has turned simple gatherings into festive, memorable occasions. Thanks to Mary, our events don’t just come together—they shine with a personal touch that makes people feel welcomed and appreciated.

Louraine Roberson is another volunteer who makes a lasting difference by giving her time and energy in meaningful ways. She faithfully organizes and runs our monthly bingo event, creating a fun and lively space for neighbors to gather, laugh, and connect. Every July 4, she can be found selling HSB Directories, helping ensure that residents have the information they need while also supporting the POA. Louraine’s steady dedication and warm smile bring people together, and her reliability has made her one of the cornerstones of our volunteer family. She shows us that volunteering doesn’t just support the community—it builds friendships and creates traditions we all look forward to.

Trunk or Treat is back and better than ever on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Quail Point Lodge. This family-favorite event transforms the parking lot into a festive trail of decorated vehicles, each with its own creative theme and costumed participants ready to hand out candy. Kids can walk from trunk to trunk, collecting treats in a safe and exciting environment, while neighbors come together to showcase their creativity and celebrate the holiday spirit.

This year, we are adding something new and fun to the mix. Since the July 4th parade was canceled, the community is invited to decorate golf carts as part of the Trunk or Treat event. A special trophy will be awarded to the best-decorated cart, giving participants another opportunity to showcase their imagination and holiday flair. Will Mario and Luigi return with their playful spirit? Will Pennywise make a spooky comeback? There is only one way to find out—join us for Trunk or Treat, an evening of candy, costumes, and community fun.
