Every hour of every day, United Way of Connecticut's 211
is here to help.
211 was established in 2000 by the Federal Communications Commission as the three-digit number to reach information and referral services for health, human, and social organizations. Today, this free, confidential, and 24/7 lifeline helps people of every race, age, and background in Connecticut thrive.
Since 2019, 211 requests have increased 300%. Last year, our four towns had 19,074 phone and online requests and statewide 1.8 million.
211 connects Connecticut residents to lifesaving and life-changing resources and organizations specializing in food assistance, housing, mental health services, access to transportation, and more.
To keep 211 accessible 24/7/365 support is needed. Funding has remained flat since 2009 and with adequate resources, 211 can serve 1,700 more requests each week.
