C.A.R.E. recognizes the month of August as Bystander Awareness Month. We believe all individuals are capable of positive action, collectively mobilizing a force powerful enough to create lasting societal change. When it comes to bystander intervention, remember the 4 D’s. Direct-directly intervening in a situation ( Example: “Is everything okay here?)”, Distract-creating a distraction. (Example: “Accidently” spilling your drink), Delegate-telling another person/authority figure. (Example: telling the bartender or calling law enforcement), Delay – after the fact, you can check in by offering support and resource. For more info, click https://carefl.org/bystander/
