1889 JCPH becomes independent nonprofit organization July 1

On July 1, the 1889 Jefferson Center for Population Health will become an independent 501c3 called Center for Population Health (CPH).

CPH releases Local Food Facts video series

CPH released a new video series Local Food Facts with Chef Nan (CPH's Local Food Systems Coordinator).


The videos will feature a wide variety of food facts along with Nan talking with producers and farmers.

COVID-19 Task Force creates mental health toolkits

The Cambria-Somerset COVID-19 Task Force have sponsored mental health tool kits.


Put together by CPH intern Alyce, the health kits will be distributed at health fairs and other community activities until they're gone.


The kits include resource information, Chap Stick, journal and pen, water bottle, jump rope (sponsored by 1889 Foundation), KN95 mask, stress ball, at-home covid test kit, and drawstring bag.

CPH, along with a number of other groups, spent a fun-filled Saturday at the Solomon Community.


There were games, giveaways, and a lot of resource information given out.


Anyone from the community was invited to attend the day-long event.


This event was one of many CPH will be attending over the summer.

CPH holding Health and Social Services Fair at Mill Rats game



The Center for Population Health is teaming up with the Johnstown Mill Rats baseball team to host a Health and Wellness/Social Services night Friday, July 14.


The night out is an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the health, wellness, and social services available to them.

Johnstown Farmer's Market is back


The Johnstown Farmer's Market is back!


-Fridays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

-Central Park (Main and Franklin streets)


There will also be Night Markets the second Thursday of every month from 4-8 p.m. with live entertainment.

Community Health Summit and Poverty Simulation to take place Aug. 17 at Pitt-Johnstown


The Center for Population Health, 1889 Foundation, Conemaugh Health System, Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, United Way of the Laurel Highlands, and Vision Together 2025 will be hosting a Community Health Summit and Poverty Simulation at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown's Living-Learning Center August 17. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.


Attendees will take part in a poverty simulation in the morning, then, in the afternoon, hear updates on health and human service initiatives in the community,
