Substance Misuse Prevention Month

An observance to highlight the vital role of substance use prevention in both individual and community health and to remember those who have lost their lives to substance misuse.

Prescription opioids are commonly used to treat chronic and acute pain. However, they can be extremely addictive and dangerous. Awareness starts with you. Tell others how prescription opioids have affected you. Talk to your doctor about your options when it comes to managing pain. There are many options that are just as effective as opioids and are much safer.

Find more about opioid awareness here.

Proper disposal of unused or expired medication saves lives and protects the environment. Take the opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinet and find a collection site near you.
