It is with sadness that we share that former United Way board member, Joan Kervick Corbet passed away on December 29, 2018. Joan was born in Elizabeth, NJ, but spent most of her adult life in Westfield. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary Academy and Manhattanville College and was an active volunteer who was passionate about education.
For nearly three decades beginning in the early 1980s, Joan served on our Board of Trustees back when Dell Raudelunas was President & CEO of Eastern Union County United Way and when our organization merged and became the United Way of Greater Union County under our current President & CEO, James Horne. She served on our Executive, Finance, Strategic Planning and Personnel Committees and also, serve on the
Board of Trustees of Tri-State United Way and was President of United Way of NJ.
Joan was a co-founder of the Christopher Academy Montessori School in Westfield, an active member of the Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield and was elected to and served on the Westfield Board of Education.
Joan is survived by her husband, William of 63 years and children, Bill Corbet and Maggie Corbet and grandchildren, Carolyn and Emme.
We thank Joan for her service and dedication not only to our organization, but also to so many in our community whose lives she's touched.
