The youth are a part of the Youth Employment Pathways Program (YEPP), a program that helps provide young men and women between the ages of 14-24 with career plans and on the job training experiences. UWGUC Attends National Testing Day Health Fair Hosted By the Newark Community Health Center
There are over 37,000 people in New Jersey who are living with HIV and our work with the Newark Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA) as part of the Ryan White Part A Program is to ensure a system of care for all eligible persons living with HIV/AIDS in Essex, Union, Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties are being provided.
To educate and take preventative measures, every year the Newark Community Health Center (NCHC) hosts its National HIV Testing Day Health Fair. United Way of Greater Union County’s Newark EMA attended the event to help promote services dedicated to improving health and quality of life.
Over 200 people attended and were able to gain access to care. There, Newark EMA was able to generate awareness and recruit people living with HIV. Mobile testing vans were on site where confidential testing took place. The Newark EMA was able to plan for development, implementation and continual improvement of the health care and treatment services for people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.
