Community In A Time Of Crisis

Covid 19 Response

TELE-HEALTH THERAPY FULLY ONLINE
Tele Therapy
NFSB is committed to continuity of operations, including regularly scheduled psychotherapy.

We are State and local Public Health compliant for COVID safe practices and have implemented Tele-therapy sessions for current and new clients. Whether meeting via video or phone, virtual therapy appointments are different from face-to-face meetings, so it's important to educate yourself about what to expect and how it may impact treatment.

INTREPID VOLUNTEERS
Intrepid Volunteers
NFSB has a core of intrepid volunteers who make our Food Pantry services possible during this crisis.

With dedicated effort, and a lot of social distancing, NFSB volunteers go about sorting, packing, bagging and distributing on a regular schedule. Often there are unexpected donations that require processing, and they assemble at a moment's notice. If you pass the Nutley Oval on any given Saturday or Sunday, you just might see our masked volunteers making end runs around potatoes and onions beside Raider Nation turf!

NUTLEY ELKS FREEZER & FOOD DONATION
Nutley Elks Freezer
Through an Elks Beacon Grant, the Nutley Elks provided this much needed and appreciated new double door stainless steel professional freezer to the NFSB Food Pantry.

Additionally, the Elks generously donated 100 fresh meals to supplement the NFSB grocery distribution efforts. We are grateful for their support especially at this challenging time of crisis. Mask wearing and social distancing (though not between family members) continues at NFSB in accordance with public health guidelines to keep our community safe.

NFSB STEPS UP FOR FOOD INSECURITY NEEDS
School Lunches
NFSB has stepped up our responsiveness for the expanding food insecurity needs in the township during this time of crisis.

From March thru May, our Food Pantry has experienced a 33% increase in total participating households. This represents a total of over 500 participating patrons; the largest increase is among senior citizens, followed by children.

Since March NFSB has been partnering with Nutley Public School District to make available Grab & Go meals provided by Pomptonian Food Service to Nutley resident students, regardless of free/reduced lunch eligibility. This is made possible through a federal meal program. To date, we have distributed over 23,000 meals. NFSB's support of the school meal program and the additional donation of essential food supplies is bolstering food security for many Nutley families.

NFSB has been working closely with the management of the Nutley Parkside Apartments and Nutley Senior Manor. Since March, we have distributed over 350 bags of groceries, 275 bags of fresh produce, and available toiletries. In addition, local restaurants have thus far provided over 600 warm meals to seniors and township families. NFSB also partners with Essex County Chrill Lunch Program for their home lunch delivery program. We provide produce, fresh bread, perishables, and occasional toiletries to 60 seniors at least once weekly.

A very big thank you to Nutley municipality, businesses, civic and religious organizations, as well as to Individual contributors who support our Food Pantry service.
