Community News from the RRLIP Project

Hello Regina Community Members!

The Regina Region Local Immigration Partnership (RRLIP Project) strengthens and supports the community’s efforts to welcome, settle and integrate newcomers. In the last Newcomer Survey, we learned that many people do not know about programs in the community and/or how to access them.

The goal of these regular emails is to increase awareness of and access to relevant programs, services and events that enhance and support newcomer settlement in Regina.

Please share this information widely. Thank you so much!

ARE YOU A HOUSING PROVIDER?

Do you rent a house or apartment to others?

PLEASE FILL OUT THIS SHORT SURVEY!

Finding permanent housing for newcomers (both immigrants and refugees) can be difficult, especially if renters have no Canadian references.

We would like to hear about the challenges, concerns, hesitancies, benefits, and successes that housing providers have experienced when renting, or considering renting to newcomers. The survey will also give rental housing providers the opportunity to share their ideas about needed supports to benefit them and the rental process.

Released on July 18, 2023

A pilot program to help people reduce their risk of overdose and other drug-related harms is being extended.

Overdose Outreach Teams in Regina will continue for another six months to further develop the outreach process and expand the reach of the teams.

The teams are comprised of a mental health and addictions counsellor from the Saskatchewan Health Authority and a primary care paramedic from Regina Fire Services. They provide short-term counselling while connecting individuals who have recently experienced an overdose with other agencies for long-term needs, including mental health and addictions services, housing, medical intervention and financial services.

Anyone can refer a person to Overdose Outreach Team Services, including family members, police, firefighters, EMS and health professionals. Client consent is needed in each case.

Referral forms and phone numbers can be found at:
