Community News from the RRLIP Project

Hello Regina Community Members!

The Regina Region Local Immigration Partnership (RRLIP Project) strengthens and supports the community’s efforts to welcome, settle and integrate newcomers. In the last Newcomer Survey, we learned that many people do not know about programs in the community and/or how to access them.

The goal of these regular emails is to increase awareness of and access to relevant programs, services and events that enhance and support newcomer settlement in Regina.

.

Please share this information widely. Thank you so much!

A project initiated by students attending Red River College Polytech’s Social Innovation and Community Development

program, in partnership with the Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations (MANSO) and reviewed by Elder Paul Guimond, this brochure aims to provide information to newcomers to Canada on the true history of Indigenous-Settler relations; in support of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action Number 93.

MULTILINGUAL BROCHURE

INFORMATION FOR NEWCOMERS TO CANADA:

TRUTH & RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation is the work of non-Indigenous people, including newcomers to Canada. With a significant part of the country’s population born abroad, new Canadians can play an essential role in Reconciliation. We know that starting this journey is a personal choice, and it may feel overwhelming for an individual, especially someone new to the country; therefore, this educational guide can serve as a first step in providing Reconciliation information for newcomers. We hope to encourage the readers to learn about Canadian history and inspire actions to strengthen their relationship with Indigenous Peoples. If many individuals decide to take responsibility and implement small changes in their lives, Canada will move forward as a nation with less racism and discrimination.

The brochure is available in different languages:

English, French, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian and Tagalog
