Serving Our Community

Hello Church Family,

I am so excited about the opportunity we have in front of us to provide meals for those in our community who have need. Below you will find the guidelines provided by the Colorado Baptist Disaster Relief (CBDR) Team. We will be following their lead as this is "what they do" and are familiar with best practices and regulations.

Update on our CBDR Feeding Deployment at Community of Grace Church in Centennial (Aurora).

·        Friday we staged our feeding units at the church location.
·        Sunday, March 29 th  we had a small team that inventoried the supplies, did sanitation and put up tents.
·         Due to needing time to purchase the food supplies and making sure we have everything up and running, we have  moved our feeding start day to Wednesday, April 1st.
·         Today (March, 30 th ), our CBDR Team Leads did a “DRY RUN” along with members of the church reviewing traffic control to make sure we have covered all angles and that we can smooth out any glitches.
·         At this point, the plan is to prepare lunches April 1 st , 2nd, and 3 rd . After that, we will serve lunches Mon/Wed/Fri at 11:00 a.m.
·         Due to the 6’ personal space required due to the Covid-19 virus, we will be asking for volunteers to work in small teams.
·         SAFETY  is going to be a MUST! No shaking hands, whenever you are in the food prep area or in the feeding trailers,  YOU MUST WEAR  – Mask and Gloves!

As for our COG volunteers who will be helping direct traffic and holding signs in the parking lot, our current gathering time will be at 10:00 am for training, review of plans, and prayer. We will be wearing gloves at all times (possibly masks). One of our biggest tasks will be to represent Christ well. "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus..." (Colossians 3:17). We don't know if we will encounter people that are frightened, agitated, frustrated, or whatever. We cannot control their feelings, but we can control ours. We will represent our Lord well in this by providing a smile, words of encouragement on a sign board, and providing a meal.

Please email me, Pastor Chris with any questions and your availability to come help serve our community. Please provide email, phone, days and hours you can serve. We will serve meals starting at 11:00am and we will go until we run out of meals that day.

Blessings,

Pastor Chris
