QCH'S NEWEST PROGRAM FOR FAMILIES

This month, we opened the doors of our newest program for families: The SEVEN Family Enrichment Center (FEC). "SEVEN" stands for "Socially Empowered, Vibrantly Engaged Neighborhood". In partnership with NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services, the SEVEN FEC (87-10 Northern Blvd., Suite 202) will serve as a welcoming space designed to support families and strengthen the Jackson Heights community.

"What’s key about this program is that it’s a community-led initiative, meaning we start by hearing directly from the community about the specific resources they need," said Program Director Tiffany Nunez. The program is co-designed to ensure families have voice and are involved in shaping the services that meet their needs. Families will be able to access parenting resources, educational workshops, family activities, and personalized assistance to help them achieve greater stability and well-being.

THANKSGIVING POTLUCKS FOR QUEENS

QCH operates out of 41 sites throughout Queens, but our settlement house model truly comes to life within our community centers. Community centers provide space for communal celebrations and rituals. This month, we hosted several Thanksgiving potlucks across the borough for individuals and families. Queens neighbors of all ages and backgrounds gathered to kick off their holiday season with delicious food, live music, dance, and opportunities to connect and laugh with their peers.

DID YOU SEE QCH ON TV?

As you were watching Grey's Anatomy, the news, or your favorite show on Hulu this month, you may have seen QCH featured in a commercial with M&T Bank. Your eyes were not deceiving you. We've grown a lot in the last ten years, and M&T Bank has been with us every step of the way. Throughout the month of November, QCH was featured in a TV advertisement highlighting our ongoing partnership with M&T Bank. Click here to watch the video.

MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR: YAQUELIN CUEVAS

We are dedicated to helping Queens parents access affordable childcare and strengthening our growing network of family-based childcare. In this special edition of Meet Your Neighbor, hear from Yaquelin Cuevas, a childcare provider of our Queens Childcare Network (QCCN).

"I am a family-based childcare provider located in Jamaica, Queens. Three years ago, I had a dream of having a daycare and thank God I was able to achieve it. My friend told me about QCCN, and I joined their network of childcare providers. Since then, QCCN has been helping me in my professional development. I started with three children, and now we are at capacity. QCCN is always willing to help me at every moment and with every request. QCCN truly works for the benefit of the children and their families. QCCN supports childcare programs like mine to be better; they have never left me feeling alone. I am very grateful for that."
