After 10 years of dedicated service to the Horseshoe Bay Property Owners' Association, Executive Director Sandra Moravitz will retire on August 14. Her leadership has helped shape the POA into a stronger, more active, and more responsive organization for its members.
Much of Sandra’s work happens behind the scenes, where the needs of the POA, Quail Point Lodge, members, staff, volunteers, and community partners are always in motion. Over the years, she has brought steady leadership, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of POA operations to every challenge and every opportunity.
Sandra has worked alongside numerous Board presidents (Sam Morrison, Mike Maine, Joan Matera, Mike Thuss, Steve Jordan, Darlene Bowles, Donald Beeman, Karen Calderon-Schweitzer, Bryan Roach, and Cynthia Clinesmith) and more than 30 Board members, helping turn a wide range of ideas and priorities into practical improvements for the community. She has also helped the POA respond to legislative issues affecting member rights, worked closely with the Business Alliance, and maintained strong relationships with city, county, and state representatives.
Under Sandra’s leadership, Quail Point Lodge has become an even more flexible and well-used gathering place. Interior improvements, such as audio/video upgrades and acoustic panels, have been made. Outdoor spaces have also seen improvements, including the larger parking lot and the multi-tier back lawn. This has helped Quail Point accommodate everything from small activity groups to large community events. Today, more than 40 social, recreational, fitness, faith-based, arts, and game groups use the facility.
Sandra has overseen a multimillion-dollar budget while supporting clear annual audits, responsible financial management, and thoughtful negotiations for insurance, construction, maintenance, facility rentals, and event services. Her work has also helped maintain nearly 100 acres of POA green space, park amenities, the campground, and hiking trails, while continuing to improve the POA clubhouse for member use.
From Spring and Fall Flings to Independence Day, Veterans Honor Day, the Member Christmas Party, educational workshops, weddings, anniversaries, life celebrations, and Business Alliance events, Sandra has played an essential role in creating opportunities for the community to come together. This year’s Independence Day celebration alone welcomed more than 800 attendees.
Just as important as the visible accomplishments is Sandra’s commitment to individual members. She has always made time to listen to concerns, answer questions, consider suggestions, and bring member voices forward to the Board. Sandra consistently asks the question that matters most: Is this the right decision for our members?
As she begins her retirement and joins family on ranch acreage in southern Arkansas, we wish Sandra all the best in this well-deserved next chapter. Her decade of service, countless hours of work, and genuine care for Horseshoe Bay have left a lasting mark on the POA and the community she has served so faithfully.
