Shop Local Porterville Contest

The City of Porterville, the Porterville Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses and organizations have launched the 2023 Shop Local Porterville Contest featuring local businesses.


Visit local businesses for a chance to win prizes. No purchase is necessary to participate, but local shopping is encouraged.


Shop Local Porterville Contest Passports are available for pickup by doing any of the following:


  • Stopping by City Hall (291 N. Main St.). Please go to the Community Development Counter. Monday - Friday (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
  • Visiting participating Porterville businesses. Please take a look at their business hours.

We are proud to host the fourth annual Christmas Home Decorating Contest.


The contest invites community members to deck their walls, rooftops, doors, and yards with the brightest of lights to show how your family celebrates! Trophies will be awarded to the top winners.

Thursday Night Dance -featuring Jerry Hall & Trick Shot


If you are looking for a place to hear great music, practice your moves on an open dance floor, or just socialize with friends, don’t miss out on the Thursday Night Dance.  


The event is held every Thursday from 7:00-10:00 PM at the Porterville Veterans Memorial Building on Olive Avenue.  


The admission fee is only $5 for adults. Coffee and water is always provided and guests often organize potluck style refreshments.

City Council Meeting Recap: November 21, 2023

Public Hearing


The City Council authorized the adoption of increases to the rates for sewer service, solid waste service, and recycled water/meter service fees. After the public hearing was conducted the City Council authorized the increased fees, which will be effective starting in January 2024.


The increased fees are required to cover operating costs, adequately fund the sewer system so it can be operated safely and provide timely maintenance of existing facilities. Fore more information on the fee structure please click on the link below.
