National Health Center Week


NHCW (August 7 – 13) is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades. This National Health Center Week honors those front line providers, staff, and beloved patients who lost their lives during the (ongoing) COVID-19 pandemic.

Educating the Community About Brain Health


A classic car show and men’s health fair in East Orange provided a chance for Rutgers-Newark neuroscientists to educate the community about protecting brain health and lowering the risk for Alzheimer’s disease. About 125 participants and 20 classic cars—including vintage Mustangs, Porsches and Citroens– were at the show, held at the Messiah Baptist Church.

CEVS bring researchers together with patients, community members, and health care stakeholders to actively participate in cross-talk. Rutgers Global Health Event:

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Clinics


August 16, 9am ET


Rutgers Global Health Institute is collaborating with partner organizations to hold COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinics on Tuesdays in August at New Brunswick Performing Arts Center. The clinic will offer free, non-invasive nasal swab COVID-19 testing (rapid antigen and PCR; rapid antigen tests results are available within approximately 15 minutes). The clinic also will offer vaccines for individuals aged 5 and older; booster doses are available for all who are eligible, and booster recipients should bring their vaccination card. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Attendees do not need to register in advance.

Funding Opportunities

Birth Justice Rapid Response Fund


The Birth Justice Rapid Response Fund is intended to provide quick, nimble, and flexible funding to advance the cause for the birth and reproductive rights of BIPOC communities and to set agendas and influence policies, practices, and narratives to advance birth equity.  Our goal is to reduce barriers and increase accessibility to funds for the birth justice movement.  The Fund is led by an Advisory Committee that consists of five organizations: National Birth Equity Collaborative, The Praxis Project Inc., SisterSongGroundswell Fund, and Ms. Foundation.

Community Resources
New Jersey COVID-19 Information Hub: The State of New Jersey has put together a list of resources about the COVID-19 virus including testing sites, signs and symptoms, and FAQs about social services. 

You can find community-based and local COVID-19 testing site locations and hours here.

Middlesex County residents can register for a free COVID-19 test at sites throughout the county. Appointments required. The sites provide saliva-based test kits developed at Rutgers University.

Visit New Jersey’s COVID-19 Vaccine Registration site to pre-register for the vaccine. New Jersey's Covid-19 Vaccine Appointment Call Center can be reached at 855-568-0545.
