Alternatives to Menthol Cigarettes Pose Significant Addiction and Health Risks


The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) should extend the ban on menthol flavored cigarettes and cigars to include potential substitutes like menthol pipe tobacco and cigarette tubes, say researchers at Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies and The Ohio State University.

Rutgers Center for State Health Policy Virtual Discussion: Exploring Interstate Licensure Compacts: Implications for NJ’s Healthcare Workforce

This forum is an opportunity to discuss the implications of interstate licensure compacts on healthcare workforce supply. The forum will begin with a brief, discussion-stimulating presentation on New Jersey’s COVID-19 temporary licensure reciprocity program and followed by a moderated panel discussion about short-term and long-term implications of interstate licensure compacts on healthcare workforce supply.

Funding Opportunities

Sustainable Jersey Grants Program Cycle


New Jersey municipalities that are registered or certified in the Sustainable Jersey Program and have an appointed green team are eligible to apply for up to $20,000 in funding from the Sustainable Jersey Grants Program. With support from the PSEG Foundation, this funding cycle will advance local sustainability initiatives in municipalities and schools across the state. The PSEG Foundation's ongoing support of the Sustainable Jersey Grants Program is an excellent example of how public/private partnerships can encourage local grassroots efforts to improve the quality of life in New Jersey. The funding cycle will award: 

     Four (4) $20,000 project grants

     Eight (8) $10,000 project grants

     Twenty (20) $2,000 project or green team support grants 


     The first two sections of the grant application are due Friday, February 10, 2023. Learn more here.

Community Resources

Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School’s Department of Pediatrics has a website with multilingual resources about COVID-19 vaccines for children and young adults. Resources are available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Tagalog, Hindi, and Korean, the top six languages spoken in New Jersey.


New Jersey COVID-19 Information Hub: The State of New Jersey has put together a list of resources about the COVID-19 virus including testing sites, signs and symptoms, and FAQs about social services.
