National Breastfeeding Month

In recognition of NBM, each August the USBC hosts a social media advocacy and/or outreach campaign inviting member organizations, breastfeeding coalitions, partner organizations, and individuals to participate in online action and conversation about the policy and practice changes needed to build a landscape of support for babies and families.

Treating Moderately Elevated Blood Pressure During Pregnancy.

Todd Rosen, an associate professor and chief of maternal-fetal medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, coauthored a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine that has changed standards of care for treating moderately elevated blood pressure in early pregnancy.

Systems for Action: Systems and Services Research to Build a Culture of Health

Systems for Action (S4A) is a signature research program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) that helps to build the evidence base for a Culture of Health by rigorously testing new ways of connecting the nation’s fragmented medical, social, and public health systems. S4A studies a variety of novel approaches for aligning systems, using rigorous scientific methods to determine their impact on health and health equity. This 2022 call for proposals (CFP) will provide funding for a new cohort of research studies to produce new, actionable evidence about how to help medical, social, and public health systems collaborate to address structural barriers to health and health equity, including racism and the social conditions that impact health.

The application deadline is October 5, 2022 at 3pm ET.

Community Resources

New Jersey COVID-19 Information Hub: The State of New Jersey has put together a list of resources about the COVID-19 virus including testing sites, signs and symptoms, and FAQs about social services.

You can find community-based and local COVID-19 testing site locations and hours here.

Middlesex County residents can register for a free COVID-19 test at sites throughout the county. Appointments required. The sites provide saliva-based test kits developed at Rutgers University.

Visit New Jersey’s COVID-19 Vaccine Registration site to pre-register for the vaccine. New Jersey's Covid-19 Vaccine Appointment Call Center can be reached at 855-568-0545.
