New Jersey's Maternal Health Awareness Day
New Jersey was the first state to recognize January 23rd as Maternal Health Awareness Day to help more people learn about the urgency of the country's maternal mortality crisis and how we can work together to reverse its course.

Schools embrace social and emotional learning to help 'overwhelmed' students
In a school district in Michigan, students in every grade are taught how thoughts, feelings and behaviors are linked and how learning how to control and reframe thoughts can lead to more positive outcomes. The program includes more intensive lessons for kids struggling with anxiety, depression or trauma, along with sessions on suicide prevention. All district employees learn about the concepts.

In conjunction with Maternal Health Awareness Day in New Jersey -- the first state to formally recognize maternal health, safety and mortality issues with an annual event -- Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; RWJBarnabas Health; The Tara Hansen Foundation; and the Central Jersey Family Health Consortium are hosting a series of virtual seminars designed for OB/GYN physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, midwives, genetic counselors, social workers, residents, fellows, medical students, emergency department providers, cardiologists, family medicine practitioners, and psychiatrists/psychologists.

The Horizon Foundation
The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey only considers requests submitted by organizations located in New Jersey that have tax-exempt classifications under Sections 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation will consider funding the state or regional office for organizations with multiple chapters or multiple affiliates operating in New Jersey. The Foundation will also consider funding local chapters or affiliates of organizations with state or regional offices by invitation only. Considerations for higher education applicants New Jersey universities and accredited colleges may submit one grant application per calendar year through their institution’s foundation.
Application deadline is January 26 for consideration on March 28th.

New Jersey COVID-19 Information Hub: The State of New Jersey has put together a list of resources about the COVID-19 virus including testing sites, signs and symptoms, and FAQs about social services.
You can find community-based and local COVID-19 testing site locations and hours here.
Middlesex County residents can register for a free COVID-19 test at sites throughout the county. Appointments required. The sites provide saliva-based test kits developed at Rutgers University.
