Community Partner Spotlight


Congratulations to Sister2Sister, Inc. for receiving a grant from the Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation. Funds will be used to promote breast health, and increase awareness about and access to clinical trials for underserved women.


Sister2Sister has been improving the quality of life for breast cancer survivors (and their families) for more than 23 years. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.

The NJ ACTS Community Scientist Program creates partnerships between community partners interested in being involved in research, and researchers looking to partner with the community in their research.


It's designed to educate people about the ethics and responsible conduct in community-engaged research, as well as provide opportunities for networking with researchers and other community scientists.


No prior involvement in research is required.

Rutgers Equity Alliance for Community Health (REACH)

Connecting Systems to Build Health Equity



REACH is a university-wide effort designed to address health and socioeconomic inequities through academic-community partnerships.


REACH’s work focuses on five social determinants of health: education, employment, food access and food security, housing, and population health, in three New Jersey cities: Camden, New Brunswick and Newark.

Support for Health Care Providers


The Centering Healthcare Institute is providing support to help make pregnant women and families in New Jersey healthier and more resilient.


Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), community health centers, and hospital-based or affiliated clinics that serve a majority of patients on Medicaid, SCHIP, and/or are uninsured are encouraged to apply.


Selected grantees will receive in-kind support (in-kind services valued at approximately $36,000-37,200) to cover 2 years support and materials, along with $5,000 mini grants to cover some start-up operational costs. .

TD Ready Challenge


Housing instability encompasses several challenges, such as having trouble paying rent, overcrowding, moving frequently, or spending most of household income on housing. These experiences may negatively affect physical health and make it harder to access health care. 


The 2023 TD Ready Challenge is seeking innovative solutions to help address systemic barriers to affordable housing across the continuum from transitional to permanent homes, and to help increase access to affordable, safe and stable housing for those that need it most.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) seeks to fund studies that build an evidence base on engagement in research, including:


  • Measures to capture structure/context, process, and outcomes of engagement in research.


  • Techniques that lead to effective engagement in research.


  • How effective engagement techniques should be modified and resourced for different contexts, settings, and communities to ensure equity in engagement and research.


The online system opens September 6, 2023, for the submission of Letters of Intent (LOI) due by October 3.
