Pool Safety & Courtesy

diving-board-child.jpg

As we head into pool season next Friday, please take a moment to review these important guidelines to help keep our pool area safe, clean, and open for everyone to enjoy.

🪑 Return Pool Furniture

  • Please return all chairs, tables, and loungers to their proper place after use.
  • Do not leave furniture scattered around the deck or blocking walkways.
  • Do not place any furniture in the water.

Keeping the area organized ensures a welcoming space for the next guests and allows me to maintain the facility properly.

🌬️ Close Umbrellas When Not in Use

We experience high winds regularly. It only takes one unexpected gust to lift an open umbrella and send it flying. This can quickly become dangerous, causing serious injury or property damage.

All umbrellas are for in-pool use only.

Before leaving your spot, please take a moment to fully close and secure umbrellas.

🚫 Absolutely No Glass

Glass containers are strictly prohibited in the pool area. If the glass breaks, it can shatter across the deck and potentially end up in the pool.

If glass enters the pool:

  • The pool must be shut down immediately.
  • The pool must be drained to ensure all glass is removed.
  • This is a lengthy and extremely expensive process.

Simply put: No glass = no closures, no costly issues, and no interruption to pool enjoyment.

🚫 Absolutely No Alcohol

Places like Kalahari and Typhoon Texas allow alcohol because they have the proper permits, licenses, and lifeguards. HOAs do not have these requirements.

Water + alcohol = Risk/Danger. Don't bring this risk to the pool or amenity center.

Thank you for doing your part to protect our shared amenity and keep it safe for all residents. Let’s work together to keep our pool clean, safe, and open all season long!

Here's a reminder of the pool rules. Pool season opens next Friday, May 1st! Pool monitors will be present. Like last year, they will be checking bags for alcohol and glass. Please do not bring either to the pool or amenity center in general.

Pool Deck

Unfortunately, the vendor was not able to get our deck scheduled before our pool opens. The rain and where we were on the schedule behind other jobs pushed us out. The Board does not want to delay opening.

Be aware - there are several areas around the pool that have loose decking and cracks. This could be an irritant to feet. Check your surroundings before walking barefoot.

The pool will be closed Tuesday, May 5th through Friday, May 8th for deck repairs.

The pool *might* be open Friday afternoon, but most likely it will reopen Saturday the 9th.

We are still in search of a vendor to repair the depth marker coping stones. The hope is to schedule that after pool season to avoid further disruptions.

Pool Shades

The shades are in the parking lot ready to be installed! They will be installed on the back portion of the deck where the larger tables are.

Tables & Umbrellas

The tables were all damaged last year due to the umbrellas being left open and umbrellas being placed in them without a base. The integrity of the tables are failing. They will most likely be removed from the pool deck before the end of the summer. The umbrella holes have been closed and the bases have been removed from the deck to help the tables live on a little longer. Do not move the tables.

The umbrellas will not be replaced. Please close them when you leave the pool. We do not have extras.

Wasp Season

Check under tables, benches, play equipment. They seem to be building lower to the ground this year.

Please report any active nests to the office. Wasps are treated throughout the week. However, most nests are very tiny, so it is possible some were missed.

Pest control is monthly. Please email or text pictures with a location.

Amenity Access

Landscaping Tips & Tricks

We understand the wet weather has made mowing difficult. However, that has not been the issue with any yard. The issue is weeds. Do not just mow the weeds. Treat or pull them. Ridding your yard of weeds makes yard maintenance significantly easier and cheaper to manage.

Weeds in the Rocks & Yard - Spray a post emergent &/or pull these weeds and grasses out of the rocks.

Sow Thistle - Pull or treat this weed before it gets out of control. This is the most prolific weed in the neighborhood at this time. If you received a Mowing, Edging, Weeding notice - it applies to the weeds in your yard. (pic to the right)

Nutsedge Weed - Treat with SedgeHammer. Do not pull. It will spread.

Tree Pruning - All trees should be worked up to a 6-8' canopy base as the tree matures. If the tree is along a sidewalk, they need to be pruned up to 14'.

Fence Stain - Approved color is Wood Defender, Color: 200 Series, Semi-Transparent Sierra.

Dead Trees - Must be replaced with the same species, unless otherwise approved.

Trash/Recycling Bins - Store them out of view when it is not trash day. If you have an alley, you may store them on the driveway near the garage door.

Parking - Commercial vehicles are prohibited. Registration must be showing at all time. No car covers or expired registration is permitted. Do not park in fire lanes or the alleyways at any time.

Alleyways continue to be an issue. Do not drive against traffic.

This is a handy little tool for pulling weeds. It is only about $5-10 at our local hardware stores. Wet the lawn, gentle press tool vertically next to the weed, loosen the dirt, then you should be able to remove the weed - root and all - by tilting the tool towards the weed.

SedgeHammer is for nutsedge - a weed you should not pull. The nut stays in the ground and makes this weed spread. This is a selective herbicide, so it won't harm your healthy sod near by.
