Note From Mr. Atkins
Families,

May is already passing quickly, and we are in the final stretch of the school year with only 3 weeks remaining (even less for our continuating 5th Graders!). It's hard to believe we can almost close the book on this wild year.

We are excited about the upcoming Field Day(s) taking place on May 11 & 13. Parents are welcome to join, but must remain masked on our property. Thank you to PTA for helping us identify volunteers to run each station. (If Tuesday weather is still terrible or conditions prevent us from holding Field Day, Kinder and 1st Graders will be moved to Wednesday, May 19th. We will make a decision by noon on Monday.).

Continuations will take place the last week of school with our beloved 5th Graders going first on Wednesday, May 26th at 10am. We are always sad to see students go, but we are extremely excited for what awaits them in Middle School. Their future is BRIGHT! Another thanks to our PTA who will be providing them with a special lunch on May 21st. Kindergarten and ECE families will celebrate their continuations here on Thursday, May 27th (ECE in the morning, Kinder in the afternoon). All continuations will take place on our field and seating will be limited. DPS health and safety protocols will be in place (all guests must remain masked).

In alignment with our Black Excellence Plan and goals, I was excited to talk with some of our Black families in Spanish Immersion this week. It was a very productive conversation, and I hope more families can join me at our upcoming discussions. See below for details.

We have a change in our before/after care for this upcoming school year. While we are so grateful for our partnership with Leading Edge over the last few years, we are excited to offer a more affordable option with enrichment opportunities for more students. Stay tuned for more details.

Please remember to stay vigilant and safe practicing the important COVID precautions, and remember that our individual decisions have impacts on our broader community. We want to make sure we can finish the year together!

Don't forget to continue scrolling down for other updates.

Sincerely,

Michael Atkins
Nota del Sr. Atkins

Familias

Atentamente,

Michael Atkins
Thank You Teachers!

A big shout out to our incredible teachers and staff who we hope felt showered with love this week. Our PTA worked hard to prepare treats, meals, gifts, and notes of recognition, and we are grateful to parents and families for showing your support in so many ways! Our staff has worked under such unique and challenging circumstances this year, and yet they've shown up every step of the way to serve our students. Thank you Team Stedman!
Field Day!
** Tuesday, May 11, 9:30-11:30am: Field Day (1st Grade)
** Tuesday, May 11, 1-3pm: Field Day (Kinder)
(Rain date: Wednesday, May 19th)

** Thursday, May 13, 9:30-11:30am: Field Day (2nd Grade)
** Thursday, May 13, 1-3pm: Field Day (3rd-5th Grades)
(Rain date: Thursday, May 20th)

We're excited for a modified Field Day to take place this Spring! Thank you to Mr. Rossi and our parent volunteers for making it happen.

Remote students are invited to attend and participate with their class at their assigned time (above). Remote students will not be able to attend class in the building that day, so parents/guardians must be able to drop-off/pick up at the start and end of the Field Day event for their grade.

Students are allowed to have parents/guardians attend (no more than 4 people per student), but all participants/attendees must wear a mask. Students will also celebrate with paletas (popsicles) thanks to our generous PTA!

**Please make sure your child brings a water bottle! A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen can also be very helpful in the heat.

Please Return Library Books
We are excited to have our Library open once again this Fall, but we need your help! If you were here last year and your child checked out books prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, please look around your house for these books and send them back to your child's teacher so we can check these in and add them back to our collections. Any books that we can't find will have to be replaced, which means fewer new books added later. We have received many exciting new books that we can't wait for our students to enjoy, and we look forward to adding even more!

Reminder: Please return any Stedman Library books to the school!
