Note From Mr. Atkins
While this week has been emotional and mentally taxing as we see COVID-19 numbers rise and await national election results, we continue to work hard to support the children of Stedman. I'm grateful for the team we have here putting in 110% effort to keep us safe and growing.

I hope you pay attention to two particular items in this week's newsletter. Please be sure to view the video from last night's Family Education Night to learn more about how you can support your child's remote learning. And please be sure to check out information on our upcoming virtual Book Fair!

I know there is anxiety around schools potentially closing, and we will keep you updated as soon as we get directives from DPS on how Stedman will be impacted. Always reach out if you have any questions.
Helpful Information for Parents Navigating Online
We had a terrific Family Education Night last night where our staff went through tips and tools for navigating our remote learning spaces. We highly recommend you watch one of our sessions from last night (above) to get a better idea of how to support your child in a remote learning setting. Feedback from parents was that it provided extremely helpful information. Topics covered include:

  • Finding your classroom's weekly objectives/lessons
  • teachers post here weekly so you can see what they are working on - click on your teacher's name/picture
  • Navigating SeeSaw
  • Find your classroom's personal invite link here if you still need to create a parent account!
  • Access child's schedule in SeeSaw in the "Schedules" folder for remote learners (click the Folder icon to find the list of folders)
  • Learning more about usefulness and navigation of IStation/Dreambox/Lexia/RazKids/Rockalingua
  • Creating a parent Dreambox account
  • Parent portal for IStation (view progress reports here)
  • Scope & Sequence for Lexia

You can view the powerpoint HERE for more information and links.

Next Reading Session:

We invite students and their family members to join in this virtual session, facilitated by Black fathers and grandfathers. The session will include a book read-aloud, followed by an engaging activity with participants.

Emergency Financial Assistance
Knowing the COVID-19 pandemic continues to negatively impact the lives of Denver families, DHS is now offering emergency/disaster assistance payments up to $4,000 to qualifying residents.
These payments can be used for a variety of reasons – to cover rent or pay the mortgage, to pay for mental or medical care, to pay for home or auto repairs, to pay for food or school supplies, and more. To qualify, one must be:

  • Household is determined to be ineligible for public assistance programs;
  • Annual household income is under $75,000;
  • Eligible child in the household (according to state rules and regulations);
  • Lawfully present in the country; and
  • Has a need for services directly relating COVID-19-related emergency
The program is open until funds are exhausted. To apply, go to and apply for Colorado Works/TANF. Please note that because this is a unique and temporary program, the “Am I eligible?” feature will not distinguish between this program and the regular Colorado Works/TANF programs. We encourage anyone with questions to call 720-944-4DHS (4347) to speak with a customer services representative.
