IB Bulldogs Blast

Greetings Tubman Families,

Over the weekend we had a wonderful Fall Festival. It was such a great way for our students, staff, and families to come together to build community. I especially want to recognize all the hours our Friends Of Tubman members put in to make this event such a huge success. For our students who were required to quarantine, FOT members generously came up with a plan to help to make each student a Fall gift bag that will be distributed upon their return or parents are able to pick them up. Thank you FOT!

Warm regards,

Kimberly

Health & Safety Updates

If your child has a positive COVID case please immediately report it to the CPS COVID Tracing line by clicking here. Once reported, CPS will then take action in investigating and determining the need for quarantine. They will then communicate with the school next steps. At this time we have had two reported student or staff cases of COVID since school returned in session. If your child is considered a first hand contact you will receive communication from CPS Contacting Tracing Team with next steps. CPS contact tracing team determines the time frame that your child is required to quarantine as well as the earliest day your child can return to school, and they communicates this information directly to each families.

Principal Gibson sends out communication directly from the district. These are district protocols that are being followed and adhered to, and are not Tubman specific protocols. We will adhere to all district guidelines at Tubman, and students who are instructed to quarantine must quarantine as specified by the district and contact tracing team. Students will not be allowed on school grounds during a period they are required to quarantine, and their name will also appear on our school non-admittance list.

Covid Testing Program for Students

If you are interested in having your child participate in testing, please register here. Testing is administered on Fridays and is optional for students, except for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated student athletes in 5th-8th grade. If you would like to confirm that your child is registered, please contact the CPS COVID-19 Testing Team at [email protected]

Lunch/Recess Reminder

Students are continuing to have lunch and recess outside, weather permitting. Please make sure your student dresses appropriately or brings warmer gear to put on.

Hello Tubman!

We are honored to have been able to photograph your students at Tubman! The pictures are now posted and will be available until end-of-day on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12. Retake day is on Thursday, October 28. Please let us know if your child would like retakes by emailing us at [email protected]. (You do not need to email us if your student was absent.)  And please remember, if your child gets his/her picture retaken, the original image will no longer be available for purchase.

There are two ways to view and order pictures:

1) You can scan the QR Code on the slip of paper that was sent home.  To do that, just aim your phone's camera over the code and a message will pop up. Click on that message and you'll be taken directly to your student's photo.

2) You can go online and order pictures:

a) Go to pollackphotography.com

b) At the top right of the navigation bar, click on the purple rectangle that says SIGN IN.

c) Log in by entering the numeric code from the piece of paper you were given by your teacher and your email address.

d) You will then see your child's photo.

e) Click "buy" and select what you'd like to purchase.

As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns:

email: [email protected]

Blue Man Group

Hey there! My name is Laurie Viets and my kids are Canyon, River and Raven. We have the opportunity to offer our Tubman friends a block of complimentary tickets to see Blue Man Group at the Briar Street Theatre.

Sunday, October 31st at 2pm.

It is Halloween so costumes are welcome and the box office will have candy for Trick or Treat!

Strict covid protocols are in place at the Briar Street Theatre.

Everyone attending that is 12 years old or older, to be admitted to the theatre, must either show proof of vaccination or show that they have very recently tested negative for COVID-19 (if taking the rapid Antigen Test, it must be taken within 6 hours of show time – and if people are using the ‘test at home’ kits – they should bring their kits with them to the theatre at take the test here after meeting with our security guards, so we know the test results are specifically for them).

If you would like to attend, please email me at [email protected]. Subject line: Blue Man Group.  In the message please say the name you would like the tickets held under and how many you would enjoy.

I will need the emails in by noon on Thursday, October 28 but the tickets are first come, first served so get those requests in ASAP!

Some info on the theatre-

Rules & Guidelines:

1.) We have a limited amount of wheelchair accessible seating. If it is needed, please let me know as soon as possible, so we can set it aside for those that need it. Similarly, we have a limited number of seats that can be gotten to without using stairs. So, if the group includes people with mobility issues that would like to avoid using stairs, please let me know that in advance too.

2.) We'll begin seating approximately 20 minutes prior to show time.

3.) Late seating will be done at the discretion of house management.

4.) Everyone that comes must have a ticket and sit in their assigned seat.

5.) Children under 3 years old will not be permitted to see the show.

6.) No photography or video may be taken during the performance.

7.) No outside food or beverage is permitted inside the theatre.

8.) Please turn off your cell phone during the performance.

9.) Strobe lights will be used a couple of times in the performance.

10.) We have a parking lot adjacent to the theatre along our south wall. It costs $17.00 cash per car. It costs $30.00 cash to park a bus. ***If you plan to use a bus, please let me know in advance, so I can let our parking staff know to expect you.

11.) Briar Street Theatre is at 3133 N. Halsted Ave., Chicago, IL 60657. We are 3 blocks away from the Belmont exit for both the Red & Brown line.

12.) We do employ security that will wand patrons pre-show. Please do not bring anything that can be construed as a weapon – it will not be allowed in the theatre.
