Fire Department
The Cherry Mountain Fire Department Auxiliary Club has a few cookbooks left. At $10.00 each the cookbooks have been a great fund raiser for the Auxiliary and all of the recipes in the book were given by members of the community. "Recipes to the Rescue" is the Cherry Mountain Fire Department's first cookbook and we've almost sold out. If you want one, call Karen or any of the auxiliary members.

Greetings!
The Golden Valley Community Club will meet on Monday, May 16 at 7:00 PM at the clubhouse for a regular dinner meeting. Loyce Broughton from the County Community Development Credit Union will be our guest speaker.
We have a guest author this month. She's been called the Golden Valley story teller. She once kept stories she'd collected in a molasses barrel. She can trace Golden Valley settlers back to the Mayflower... more below.
The Cherry Mountain Fire Department Auxiliary Club is holding a fund raising supper with the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Friday evening. And on Saturday, you won't want to miss the Goat Festival and Parade taking place at nearby Spindale, North Carolina.
Golden Valley's Facebook page is has 312 "likers". It has been suggested that if you get good service, if you "like" a local restaurant, if you "like" your contractor or beautician, if there's someone you would want to recommend, by all means write on our wall: more below.

The Tale of Henry Clay
by Elizabeth Wisenant Towery

Guest Author Elizabeth Towery has sent us a story. It's about a preacherman, a moonshiner, bootleggers, blockade runners, a moonlit ride and a very near miss for a preacher who maybe had a smidge more luck than he had sense.
