Note From Principal Atkins
Stedman Families,
Happy April Stedman families. The rest of the year will certainly fly by, but we are grateful that it's full of fun and memorable events.
Most pressing, our 3rd-5th graders will start CMAS on Monday - please make sure students get a good night's sleep each night and arrive to school on time. We will celebrate the completion of CMAS at the end of the month with a small playground party.
Next week, we're also focusing on Physical Health as part of our Let's Get Healthy April initiative with our Health & Wellness committee. Be sure to check out the 5210 challenge below and/or try to join your child at recess if you're able!
I'm hosting another Coffee with the Principal on Thursday at 9am - join me on the playground! Special thanks to PTA for providing the coffee and treats.
Families - one side effect of COVID was a near erasure of lice outbreaks. Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that our little friends are back in some classrooms. Please be checking your children and reaching out if you need resources. While not mandated, it is advised that you keep your child home if you suspect lice until they have received a treatment to remove them. For more info on lice, read here.
PTA will be launching their biggest fundraiser of the year next week - I hope you'll join us in sharing it far and wide in your networks. We're so grateful for the support PTA provides us in getting our students and staff both opportunities and resources.
I hope you're as excited about this sunshine as I am. Please get out and enjoy it.

Estimadas familias de Stedman,
Feliz abril familias Stedman. El resto del año sin duda pasará volando, pero estamos agradecidos de que esté lleno de eventos divertidos y memorables.
Lo más urgente es que nuestros alumnos de 3.° a 5.° grado comenzarán CMAS el lunes; asegúrese de que los estudiantes duerman bien todas las noches y lleguen a la escuela a tiempo. Celebraremos la finalización de CMAS a fin de mes con una pequeña fiesta en el patio de recreo.

Voy a organizar otro café con el director el jueves a las 9 a. m. ¡Únete a mí en el patio de recreo! Un agradecimiento especial a la PTA por proporcionar el café y las golosinas.
Familias: un efecto secundario de COVID fue la casi eliminación de los brotes de piojos. Desafortunadamente, nos ha llamado la atención que nuestros pequeños amigos están de vuelta en algunas aulas. Por favor, controle a sus hijos y comuníquese con ellos si necesita recursos. Si bien no es obligatorio, se recomienda que mantenga a su hijo en casa si sospecha que tiene piojos hasta que haya recibido un tratamiento para eliminarlos. Special Update from Principal Atkins
Dear Stedman School Community,
We have bittersweet news to share. Our very own Adrienne Lopez will be transitioning to a principal role at Polaris Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year and beyond. Although very sad news for the Stedman Community, we are excited and confident Ms. Lopez will continue to serve as an educational advocate for all students, while operating out of her deep values that have been an asset to the Stedman Community for many years.
Ms. Lopez has been a part of the Stedman community for the past 6 years serving as Literacy Dean and Assistant Principal. She has supported our staff in deepening their instructional pedagogy through data analysis and coaching and has helped to strengthen the school’s values of equity, inclusion, diversity and community.
Ms. Lopez will still be a part of the Stedman community as a parent so you will be sure to still see her at community events. Please help us in congratulating Ms. Lopez on her next role as principal of Polaris Elementary School!
We know life is about transitions. Although transitions can present the unknown, which is difficult to embrace, transitions also present the opportunity of discovery. With that said, continue to discover all of your greatness, Ms. Lopez. You will be missed.

Your child received a 5210 Challenge log in their Thursday folder yesterday - we encourage you to support them participating in this Let's Get Healthy activity! Every day that your child meet's one of the goals, please make note. At the end of the week, turn in your log at the front office! There will be raffle prizes for three lucky winners!

Denver Public Schools (DPS) is beginning enrollment for Summer Connections for all eligible families currently in kindergarten to fourth grade. The new EAL program will offer free classes in core subjects to enrolled students, allowing them to get ahead of critical course material and get a head start on the upcoming school year. 5th Grade Memory Books
Dear 5th Grade Families,
We are putting together a memory book for 5th Graders to have a special reminder of their time with us at Stedman. We will be collecting a few items from families to help us out. If you are willing/able, please send in a baby photo of your child (you can take a picture of an old photo if you don't have a digital version) no later than Monday, May 1st. If you have a couple fun photos of your child with his/her friends at Stedman or during a Stedman event from over the years, please send those in as well (group photos preferred)! Please email them to alison_larson@dpsk12.net or text to 303-242-6414 making sure to share your student's name in the text.
Please be sure to submit all photos (baby photo especially) by Monday, May 1st. Thank you for your help with this so we can make the end of their year as special as possible!

One of our favorite events is coming up! Bones & Tones is our annual Spring Carnival filled with fun, food, music and more! It's a great way for us to spend time in community while also raising money for our school.
We are in need of help to make sure Bones & Tones goes off without a hitch. Can you lend a hand? Perhaps run a game for 30 minutes? Or help serve food? Or maybe you have an item you can donate for our “raffle”? Or perhaps you’re able to stay after to clean up? PHNEE Update
News from PHNEE: After a 3 year hiatus due to COVID, we are happy to bring One Park Hill Day back to the neighborhood. The event is for all third graders in the Park Hill elementary schools and will include a performance and lessons from The School of Breaking along with some outdoor activities. This year's event will be on Tuesday May 30 at the Hiawatha Davis Recreation Center. We could still use help with the logistics and funding.
