Stedman Families,
Happy Veterans Day to all the Veterans in and connected to our community. We enjoyed a special program from our music teacher, Mr. Moore, who also serves as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in the Colorado Army National Guard as a Chinook helicopter pilot. We are grateful for his service and the service of others like him.
We've got a lot coming up before the end of the year. Don't forget to read through this entire newsletter to get important information and community resources.

We're excited for the Book Fair to start on Monday! Be sure to shop the fair for holiday gifts and more. Times for the fair are posted below. Shout out to PTA for organizing such a fun annual tradition.
I want to wish our Girls on the Run participants GOOD LUCK on their 5K this weekend in City Park! They have worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and we know it will be rewarding to cross that finish line.
Our PTA has arranged a few Restaurant Nights in November that serve as simple ways for some of you to support our school. Be sure to check out information on those below in case you're able to participate.
The annual DPS Thanksgiving Lunch takes place on Wednesday and I am excited that so many of you plan to join your child for the meal. We are thrilled to welcome you into the building, and we also ask for your patience as we get everyone through the lunch line!
CMAS and Interim results went home to our 3rd-5th Grade families this week. Though these are only one data point to use as we guide and craft instruction, they are important as we continue to best serve our students. For our 3rd Graders, this was the first time they've taken assessments like this on their Chromebooks, so we know a large learning curve is at play as well. We are proud of the growth our school is showing, and anticipate continued upward movement.

Happy Veterans Day!
We are so grateful for the service of our very own Mr. Moore who has dedicated much of his life to serving our country and students. He led our 2nd Grade students in a beautiful tribute to Veterans near and far last night, and it was a wonderful time spent in community.
Estamos muy agradecidos por el servicio de nuestro propio Sr. Moore, quien ha dedicado gran parte de su vida a servir a nuestro país ya los estudiantes. We welcomed a new member to Team Stedman this week! Please join me in giving a warm welcome Mr. Malik Fletcher who is joining our Restorative Justice team as a Student Liaison. Mr. Malik comes with extensive experience working with students from ECE to High School most recently serving students at South. If you see him around, please be sure to say hello!

Hello Stedman Families!
Our Winter Enrichment Session is just around the corner and we are happy to share the 2023 Winter Brochure with all of you! Registration will be from November 21st at 6am until December 8th at 10pm. Please ensure you are updating your student’s profile with all important information, phone numbers and grade level.
We will be declining any registrations that do not include a parent email and phone number. Additionally, you may not “hold” as spots, we will be rejecting those as well.
If you have any questions, please email enrichment_extendedlearning@dpsk12.org. When you email, please provide your school, student’s name, and all relevant information.

Do you know what a land acknowledgement is, why it is important and how to incorporate the practice into your own life? The Native Governance Center shares this handy Guide to Indigenous Land Acknowledgement.
If you’re unsure about the Indigenous Peoples land you are living on, you can search your location using Native Land, a growing database that documents traditional territories, languages, and treaties worldwide. This resource is also available as an app for your phone or tablet.
Other resources include Tribal Nations Maps, a source of hard copy maps that identify the traditional lands of Tribes in North and South America and the Caribbean, and the Smithsonian’s digital archive of treaties made between the United States and Indigenous Tribes.

Middle School Tours
5th Grade Families: It is time to start thinking about Middle School! Round 1 of SchoolChoice opens January 13th. Selections must be made by February 14th. In order to have the best chance to get the school of your choice, you must rank selections by February 14th. Some information on nearby schools:
